SAVARD FIRED
ESPN is reporting this morning that they fired Savvy. I didn't believe it either but check it out for yourself here
I figured he wouldn't last the season but after just 4 games AND coming off our first win is a bit mysterious to me.
Perhaps this will open the door for Scotty Bowman to help lead us to the promised land but who knows. These guys needed a spark and maybe this is it.

Confirmed...
…Wow this is surprising. I’m listening to ESPN 1000 at work and Dan McNeil came on and confirmed it after talking to Savard. It’ll be interesting to see who the replacement is. I would imagine that this was a done deal after Monday’s game and last night’s result didn’t factor in….Now as I’m typing this Quenneville has been named replacement.

i have to believe that this was scotty boman's
recommendation. this seams like a very classless move by the hawks. yes quenneville was in place, but you figured it wouldn’t have happened this early.

I wonder if something happened...
that pissed off Tallon or something. Odd that they would just fire him the day after a good win. I wasn’t a Savard fan but it is still surprising.

Hockey Night In Canada
talking heads said this past Saturday night,
“….The Blackhawks had a very bad training camp. This team was thought to be the worst-conditioned team in the league.”
The Hawks (they didn’t imply it was Scotty Bowman) realized “that they had one of the top head coaches who wasn’t currently a head coach – already in their organization.” (Again, that’s a quote from HNIC.)
So, before some other team offered Quenneville a gig — they decided to pull the trigger on Savard.
Perhaps Savard was too much of a ’player’s coach?’ Perhaps they didn’t want the kids to develop bad work habits? There’s a lot we don’t know.
