Pick SPG is go

Alright everyone - starting tomorrow the Second City Hockey Pick SPG is starting up.  The first thing you'll need to do is head on over Pick SPG and sign up for a free account - all you need to give them is a nickname and an email address.  I'd recommend signing up with your SB Nation log-in.. but hell.. I don't really care.. get creative if you want. Just make sure you pick the Chicago Blackhawks as your team loyalty or I won't be able to keep track of you.  Sign up now so you can start with tomorrow's game.

The game itself is insanely easy to play - Once you've got a log-in you'll be able to see a calendar of all the Blackhawk games and be able to click to a page that will give you drop down menus of all players for each game period.  Your goal is to pick the right player who takes the first shot on net, takes the first penalty and scores the first goal of each period and overtime.

The game is open until the scheduled start time - not when the puck is actually dropped.  So if it's scheduled to start at 6:00 - get your picks in before that.  After each game I feed the official NHL play-by-play to the site - and it does it's magic and calculates who got what right. I'll update the stats on the page weekly so the leaders can start their bragging.

Another cool thing about this site is that you can check out which Hawk is leading the categories in each period - so that could help you.  There's also leader boards on the site so you can compete against other fans from other teams.  They've got a headstart though so we'll have to really kick ass.

If we get a game going between us there will be a small prize for the winner at the end of the year (something Hawks related).  Next season when we get a full year in - the prize could be better.  There's always bragging rights too - which are worth their weight in gold if you ask me.

Good luck all
