Hawks' 2008-2009 schedule is out
Finally, the schedule for the 2008-2009 season has been released today, as expected. Here are some of the key dates of matchups to keep in mind:
- The season opener is Friday, October 10th, in New York against the Rangers.
- The home opener is Monday, October 13th against the Nashville Predators. Doesn't it seem kind of odd to have monday night games? I don't seem to remember many of them in the past, but there are several on this year's schedule.
- The first meeting between the Hawks and Blues is October 18th in St. Louis.
- The first meeting between the Hawks and the Red Wings is October 25th, at the United Center.
- Brian Campbell meets his former team, the San Jose Sharks, on November 16th, at the United Center.
- Take a look at the March portion of the schedule: 11 home games, 3 road games. Looks like a favorable load of games if they are in the playoff race and need those wins.
You'll be able to find the whole slate of games in the "Schedule" page of this blog shortly.

I like the new schedule...
...and how we play every Eastern Conference team now. I thought 8 against our Div was too much. Feb 27 against the Penguins should be a hot ticket. I just wish the Capitals were coming to town…

Yeah, I think the schedule definitely looks better
A little more variety it seems and we get to see some teams more often than usual. Now, I just can’t wait till we get to the season.

The only thing that annoys me is that as a broke New Yorker, the fact that they visit MSG this year for the f’ing Rangers home opener pretty much clinches the fact I have to go watch a Devils game to see the Hawks in person this year.

That sucks...
One of the reasons I’m glad I’m only about 30 miles from the UC.
