Matt Walker apparently signed by Hawks
This isn't official, as I haven't found it anywhere else yet, but Andy Strickland of HockeyBuzz.com reports:
Chicago signs former Blues D-man Matt Walker to a 1 yr. deal.
From looking at Walker's stats and the scouting on him, it looks like Walker would bring some toughness and depth to the blue-line. Not a tremendous addition, but he's got good size and would give us a physical player. Not a bad signing if it is true.

Other than Strickland’s blog entry, I have not found anything to confirm this on TSN, CBS, ESPN or NHL.com. Not that it’s a major deal to begin with.
However, having Adam Burish as our only “enforcer”, if you want to label him that, isn’t adequate. Whether you like fighting or not, it’s part of the game at times. With Koci officially gone now we need someone to dress some nights just for added presence alone. Remember the St Louis game when they were taking runs at the kids and when Hjarlmerson was tied up and noogied into submission?
Whether we singned Walker or not, we need someone tough and who drops the gloves once in awhile. Just to see Burish get a break now and then from having to be that guy alone is reason enough. I get hurt watching the man sometimes.
