Outdoor game all but official now
It looks like the outdoor game between the Blackhawks and Red Wings that has been rumored for a while is almost officially going to happen at this point, according to an article from the Detroit Free Press:
Michael Russo of the Star-Tribune in Minneapolis-St. Paul reports that the Red Wings will play the Blackhawks in the next NHL Winter Classic at Wrigley Field, home of the Cubs.
"The outdoor game has been in the works for some time but finally approved last week when NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman met with the Blackhawks, Cubs and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley," Russo writes.
Good to hear. I was very intrigued when the rumors of this first began, it seems like a really cool idea, something the Hawks would never have done 10-15 years ago, but John McDonough knows what kind of attention and good press this could bring to the Blackhawks and got the wheels in motion. This game is going to be one hot ticket whenever it happens, which I believe was supposed to be New Year's Eve or New Year's Day when it was discussed before. It should be interesting to see the details come out on this game.

I wonder...
...if season ticket holders are guaranteed a ticket for this event… Wrigley holds a little over 40,000 so I’m sure they will be. It should be interesting to see which way they angle the ice. Rooftop owners should be able to cash in big time for this. I’ll definitely be trying to get tickets when they go on sale.

I would think...
that season tix holders will definitely be guaranteed one. Yeah, it’s gonna be cool to see how they are going to figure out the ice and everything else. I’d love to get a ticket to this one.

I have to get tickets to this...
There’s little doubt in my mind that this will be the most hyped regular-season NHL game since the lockout.

I will
no doubt attempt to get tickets to this day 1 before the prices hit the roof. I hope its not the typical random queue system the Cubs use online. This is a great thing for the NHL in general. go hawks.
