DON’T FORGET: YOUR SPG PICKS (4 MORE NEEDED TO CATCH THE LEAFS)
So last's night game seemed to be one to forget.. and there's nothing to say more about these teams today.
The Hawks will hopefully get fired up by the home crowd tonight - but right now it looks like we could be in our first slump of the season.
I love the home and home series... lets get the split
The KHL might have put on a better outdoor game than the NHL - Check out these photos... wow (thanks to Mirtle for the link).
If you're going to game - buy the Indian.. take pictures.. come back here and lets hopefully talk about a Hawks victory.

Watching this on Comcast, that might be the quietest I’ve heard the crowd all year during the anthem. Sounded pathetic…

Huet's hardly been brutal
his GAA is right behind Khabi (2.45 and 2.37, respectively) and his SV% is a percentage point lower. He hasn’t been stellar, but he’s been far from “brutal” (though his record doesn’t reflect it). The fact is that we have two very good, but not great, goalies.
In fact, you could almost make the case for Huet being the better goalie as of late. Since December, he’s only given up more than 3 goals twice, both of which came against Scum™, while recording two shutouts and four other one-goal performances (granted, some of those were easy games like the 18-save one against Minnesota).
I think it’s a bit harsh and, well, false to say Huet has been “brutal.”

Agreed
I think that the what stands out is his record (10-7-3) as oppose to Khabi’s (13-3-4) that makes him stand out as “brutal” I suppose. Not to mention he can’t do dick against Scum, and everyone is looking at the Classic as a much bigger game than it really was.
I wouldn’t say that Huet has been the better goalie of late, however, I would agree with you in saying that Huet has put up good, but not great numbers so far this year.
I don’t know where to find a stat like this, but maybe the Hawks aren’t scoring when Huet is in net. Kind of like when the Cubs go through pitchers like Rich Hill or even Ted Lilly where they just don’t give them any run support. I dunno…

I've heard the argument made that
Huet doesn’t show up for big games, and I’ve also heard the argument that the Hawks don’t score for him. I’m too lazy to do any research to back up either of those claims, but I’d be more inclined to believe the latter.
For another baseball analogy, is Huet the Matt Cain of hockey?

just got back from the game
it did seem kinda quiet during the anthem. I did my part though.
Khabi had a good night.
My only complaint is they seemed kinda sloppy on the power play.

give 'em time
I got a lot of funny looks from the folks around me for cheering during the anthem tonight, but I realized they were just new fans when they started asking questions about delayed penalties and why the Preds pulled their goalie at the end of the game.
They’ll come around as they learn the game and the traditions.
