One More Special Message To Go: Blues At Hawks Preview
GAME TIME: 7:30
TV/RADIO: CSN/WGN 720
OPPOSITION BLOG: St. Louis Gametiime (bunch of tools)
One more game before the break, so it would behoove the Hawks to enter it with a win. It would make us all feel better, actually. The Hawks only showed up for the last half of the game on Monday, and even though the Blues anchor the conference right now, I don't think that approach will work tonight, either.
(Yes, the previous paragraph is centered. For some reason I can't left justify it, so just deal. I get enough edit-shit from The indian) The Blues are playing well of late, for them. They miracled their ass to a SO win over what's left of the Boston Bruins on Monday afternoon. Last Saturday, as we all saw, they pretty much played us off the rink, and yet couldn't come up with a second point thanks to Huet and The Perfect Beard. However, half of this team is the Peoria Rivermen, they really shouldn't cause that much trouble.
The drill is the same. The Blues will try and hit the Hawks at every opportunity, especially after the whistle and in the back (it's their way). They'll also try and squeeze the middle of the ice as best they can, keep the play on the perimeter where they can hit us even more, and try and frustrate the Hawks. We mustn't buy in to it. The Hawks are better at hockey than St. Louis, and it's time they prove it. Chris Mason hasn't been wowing anyone in net. Enough of the pretty, cross-ice passing that hasn't worked in a few and more of just putting rubber on net should see the Hawks through and into their 6-day break, which they so badly need. And so do we. But not without reaching the 60 point mark.

I will be there tonight in sec. 302 first row. If i can i will take pictures(must find camera) and upload them.
LETS GO HAWKS!
Oh and its also one of my favorite Hawks ever Tony Amonte night.
Representative of the bunch of tools here
If the Hawks can’t outplay the Blues, your playoff tickets will be as valuable as World Series tickets at Wrigley Field.
I thought
all playoff tickets that weren’t for the Jordan-era Bulls were pretty much worthless no matter what sport they were for?
How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are? - Satchel Paige
They aren't all worthless
I’d pay good money for Steve Bartman’s ticket
Hawks have been really coming out flat last week or so
Granted, 9 minutes of penalties in the first period doesn’t help a quick start.
Worst 2 periods of the year so far
Kane is continuing to play like a bitch, there’s no reason for him to be out there half-assing it if he’s still healing. Horrible effort from everyone outside of the bolland line and huet. You’d think we were honoring Boris Mirinov tonight instead of Tony Amonte
Lets Go Hawks!
The All-Star break better do the Hawks some good
‘Cause right now they look like crap. Can’t hang on to passes, keep turning the puck over…yuck. Getting outplayed by the cellar-dwelling Blues.
Doesn't get much better than the cellar-dwelling blues
Lets Go Hawks!

Yea, you'd think
the hawks would be handing it to us tonight…or the last time they met us…bet I’m just not seein it.

I may be dating myself here ...
but I thought y’all would enjoy this … or not.

LOL
Life is relevant. You can put your hands on a hot stove and a fraction of a second seems like hours. Yet you can put your hands on a hot woman and hours seem to turn into seconds.
what u say chief
Life is relevant. You can put your hands on a hot stove and a fraction of a second seems like hours. Yet you can put your hands on a hot woman and hours seem to turn into seconds.
So I have one question, Hawks fans.
Do you think the rivalry is back now? I know the Committed Injun said they thought it was one sided. Still feel that way after tonight?
ah ...
but did they say Which Way that it was one sided???
j/k …. Chicago is a heckuva team. The next few years are going to be great for hockey. I can’t wait for our next playoff series.

What a POS game
The only “highlight” was Burish and Hinote’s “fight”, which was more like a noogie-fest.
Regrettable Comments Made by Author in Retrospect
-“However, half of this team is the Peoria Rivermen, they really shouldn’t cause that much trouble.” (half of your team can’t buy their own beer, but do we mention that?)
-“The Blues will try and hit the Hawks at every opportunity, especially after the whistle and in the back (it’s their way).” (the only players hitting from behind were the ladies that suit up for your squad)
- “The Hawks are better at hockey than St. Louis, and it’s time they prove it.” (say we’re last in the conference, fine. we have the second most man-games missed in the league. look at the season series…hawks may play better hockey, but not against us)
-“Chris Mason hasn’t been wowing anyone in net.” (GOOSE-EGG, BITCHES!)
Look, I don’t hate the Hawks so much as I hate arrogant writing. Learn some class.
In defense of the Committed Indian
They turned up the criticism in response to Game Time on Saturday night when the Hawks were in town.
But I did chuckle at your retorts.
oh...
I also just saw the “learn some class” comment..
May I please invite you to eat a giant bowl of dicks? Hows that for class?
Bringing back that rivalry...
Love to see the animosity.
Of course you shouldn’t write like Chi-Town will lose every game, but how about writing like St.Louis has a chance to win one fucking game? Arrogance is simply pretension; you honestly think this preview wasn’t even a little bit holier-than-thou?
Your team isn’t so far removed from our position, so try not to forget what it was like to be basement dwellers.
How about you go post on your shit-town's shit-hockey team's
shit-blog, shit head?
You’re the only team with enough lonely basement-dwellers to actually invade the comments section of this blog, so here’s a suggestion: shut your fucking cockwasher and go back to your own horrible blog, asshat.
hey
at least we still have fans while our team is crappy.
my my my ... this kitty has claws ....
Don’tcha know, all bloggers are basement-dwellers. Ask anyone.
You have waaaaaay too thin of skin to be involved in this. You might want to simmer down a little. LOL

If I have thin skin,
then you have the intellect of a four-year-old for believing I’m genuinely upset about this pathetic “invasion.”
if your insults were misunderstood ...
but yet you continue to issue them, perhaps the confusion is not on my end after all. Your statements here and on GT seem to lend credence to the thought that “this asshat can’t take a joke”.
if I am wrong, I apologize. Otherwise, get out of the way. There are too many cool cats here at SCH to deal with the likes of you.

then promptly shut the fuck up.
I’m pretty sure you’re the only one taking me seriously at this point.

Can you still take me seriously?
Wow, what the hell happened here
Is this St Louis Game Time or Second City? You’d think the administrators would stay on their own boards rather than promote the trolling. What a joke. It’s people like this who ruin the website for everybody else. You won a game, act like you’ve been there 12 times before or whatever the win total is at now. Go bring a teddy bear for Daryl Kile day.

Hey Mr. Poop Sandwiche
We were just trying to promote some good-natured ribbing between the two sites and give Second City a few more hits. As your finding of the St. Patrick’s Day game back in the day (an amazing game) shows, the Blues and Hawks once had a brilliant rivalry. I for one hope it returns. And if that’s the case, I’d think both sites could fan the flames a little.
Way to reference a dead Cardinals pitcher. Should I retort with a joke about retired Blues players killing more retired Blackhawks? Probably not.
I fully welcome the St. Louis Game Time crew over on our site… only on special occasions though.
I’m very glad I missed this game though… fuck
Oh don’t worry. We lurk just to keep tabs, but we won’t show our faces until the two teams play again.
I did enjoy tonight’s Committed Indian. Paul Kariya’s bruised labia indeed.
At the risk of "outting" myself ...
as someone who enjoys watching the ‘Hawks, I plan on doing more than lurking, although I’ll be talking Chi stuff more often than not.
Speaking of which, I posted a request here a while back…. Can someone up there in ChicagoLand find/create a YouTube of the Patrick Sharp’s ad for the local furniture store? Its the one where they offer him a buffalo wing, and he says “No thanks, red wings make me gag” (Although it sounds like "gay") I gotta post that on GT, that is too funny …

The reference was actually meant for the creppy fan base not the dead pitcher
By all means, resort to retired Blues killing retired Blackhawks jokes if that will make you feel better. Certainly the rivalry was great and hopefully it does return, but if your idea of a good time is flooding an opposing team’s comment board, then count me out.

"Flooding" wouldn't be a problem ...
If you had more folks on your GDT. You guys here have a good thing started, but keep building. Considering the success of late, surely you can find some bandwagon fans to beef up your ranks, eh?
A strong, rivalry on the web that matches the one on the ice would be great for both communities. Fire back. Circle your calenders for 02/13 and 04/01. Like ChicagoKill said, “special occasions”.
I think we can all agree on one thing, the single element that unites us all … Fuck Detroit!!!

I guess we just have a difference of opinion
I find it to be the lowest common denomination of fandom when each group takes turn telling each other how much they suck because a group of 20 guys playing in their home city beat a group of 20 other guys from another city. If that’s what you think helps build communities, then you’re entitled to that opinion and I won’t try to disway you. I just don’t have the energy or the brain power for it.

I guess it is a difference of opinion
I enjoy seeing which group can come up with the most clever affronts. To me it’s almost like a sport of it’s own. I like clever, funny smack talk, and I try to deliver whenever I can. I probably mistakenly expect the same, because I assume everyone appreciates my same sense of humor.
And as far as Tim goes, he’s right. The Committed Indian is a badass fan paper. I guess I just figured it’s regular readers were like us. A bunch of mouthy people who like to talk shit to see how much funny we can bring.
How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are? - Satchel Paige
There's a fine line between clever, funny smack talk
and being a troll. Certainly, things get lost in the lines of communication over the internet but I would say last night was the probably the worst time for Hawk fans to seek a safe haven only to see a bunch of guys from GT posting away.

Smack talk only pisses me off
I hate having people from the other team show up on MY team’s game thread and start insulting the players and the posters. It’s not the slightest bit funny.
Mets fans are the biggest douchebags I know, but last night you guys came close to matching their level of trashiness.
Apparently ...
You haven’t had the pleasure experience of meeting Ded Wing fans.
I don’t know anything about Mets fans, but the common phrase (back in the day) for the Mets were “pond scum”.
Speaking of baseball … did Bill Buckner ever play in Chicago? I swear, I saw a group of old ball players at a ‘Hawks game the other day, and there was an interview with a couple of them during a break or something, and one of them was Buckner. Of course, I’ll always remember him for his time in Boston. I thought that was funny.
There’s probably a Buckner / 5-hole joke to be made somewhere, but I’m too tired/lazy to make it.

don't get me wrong...

If that’s all it is, then you’re absolutely right. But some general ribbing is no big deal. Since we’ve came on the SBN scene, we’ve had some fun with the SJ Sharks guys, and they’ve been back. Of course, they don’t inspire the same ….um, ire…as old-time rivals like the Hawks do, but it could work out….

Wow. Seeing how the posters here are being labeled as classless, I went to take a look at “Gametime’s” blog to see what they’re all about… it’s got skid stains all over it.
Don't be afraid to take a few steps back, but you better keep moving forward.
nice line...
but it doesn’t apply to GT. It’s a great site, and we actually welcome you all over there. Well, the ones with a sense of humor about themselves, anyway … For example, I’m the one that posted the “Cuckoos Nest” LOL photo on the GDT thread. It was cool to see that there’s folks here that understood the spirit it was offered in… But, if you have no sense of humor or history, then you may as well stay away. Thin-skinned need not apply.

I for one was just trying to apply some good natured ribbing, but I guess you guys don’t appreciate our armpitofthemidwest brand of humor. As Barret Jackman would say, I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Of course not

Wow. I wasn’t here for this shitstorm the other night, but I’m starting to feel like I had the wrong impression about Hawks fans. As much as I hate the Hawks, I always respected your fans, because the ones I met at games were able to dish out the clever smack talk as well as they took it. But this board makes you guys look about as thin-skinned as Detroit fans. I mean, stop by the Gametime blog next time we play, and while I can’t guarantee you’ll feel welcome, we won’t complain about you being there. And I can’t fault all Hawks fans for mjthor’s posts. As unfortunate as it is, every blog’s got a guy like him in the comments section bringing down the average IQ. I’m just saying, maybe I was wrong about you guys…
then again, nobody over there knows me,
or knows that I’m gasp not a completely belligerent asshole.
And still yet, all they had to do was click on my profile name, read a couple of my previous posts and realize, “Oh, maybe he’s just fucking with us, like we did with his favorite blog.”
Anyway, let sleeping dogs lie, or some cliche bullshit like that.
Why does the autoformatting stuff keep messing with me?
That “gasp” was supposed to be bookended by asterisks, not bold.
