Shannahan for #6?

With the Hawks possibly looking for that key 6th D-man and Brenden Shannahan sitting out on the market...any chance the Hawks look to grab him with a loaner, one year contract? Could be a good experienced guy to look after the young talent the Hawks have. I'm thinking that it will help the Hawks young core and at the same time not hinder the salary cap issues for the next offseason (which I won't bother going into right now)

Shannahan is a winger… so that probably wouldn’t work too well.

To maybe deflect the topic in the correct direction

proper positions aside…do we perhaps grab him if VERSTEEG! and Brouwer and Ladd and Buff all go down (say if they all collided in a hilarious, yet devastating, fashion during a skate around) would we grab Grandpa Shanny then?

I’ll vouch for this guy, if anybody cares about my opinion. He is a STH in my section who has gotten dumber since moving to Minnesota for law school. Being surrounded by Wild fans will do that to you.
