And In Other News, Tomorrow's Wednesday
Well, you knew this was coming.
No surprise here. With the Preds and beat-up Wild up next, those are two games you could use to build up Huet's game and also let some of the bile that has filled the UC to dissolve a little. A week between starts should do that.

Niemi to start?
The numbers don’t lie Niemi has been the more solid of the two netminders this far, but it’s only 8 games into this season. But what does baffle me a little is that Quenneville didn’t go back to Huet this Wednesday, in large part, just to give Huet the opportunity to redeem himself for (what he would consider) a porous effort on Saturday. Can a week of ‘mental rest’ for Huet help him in the long run? Will this be beneficial for him in terms of regaining his confidence? Only time will tell.
With that being said Niemi (whether anyone agree’s with it or not) is deserving of this opportunity and has been very solid for the Hawks in his 2 starts and 1 relief appearance earning himself a 3-0 record to go along with a 1.73 GAA and a .912 SV%. Although the circumstances surrounding this game, as it pins the Hawks against the Canucks a team that the Hawks ousted in the second round, does have me suprised that Niemi would get this start due to the fact that Wednesday’s game is most likely to show some playoff intensity and for that I did think that Q would turn his hand to his veteran netminder regardless of much he has struggled to this point.
It's never about the eventual destination, but rather the long journey and its challenging obstacles that are presented and what it takes to overcome them, that makes the taste of success all the more worthwhile!!!

Good points but
You make strong points but even if Huet had posted shutouts in every game up to this point there’s still value in throwing Niemi in the deep end in a game like this one is expected to be to see how he responds.

Fair enough.
I’d like to go drinking (really drinking) with Huet during his week off… you know, tell him my “problems” and then remind him that the world already knows what his are. We could have a good chuckle about some of the weaker goals and he can introduce me to a heavy succession of French reds while I’d show up with several cases of frosty Warthog Ale. We could trash talk Niemi and nurse a couple of heavy hangovers with a few good shots of Reposado of choice. Good luck Cristobal. See you in a few days.

Sounds like the ol’ “Robin Ventura Slump-Buster”, for those who follow White Sox lore.

We have to get on this
“[W]henever Cubs First Baseman Mark Grace would go into a hitting slump he would find the ugliest baseball groupie and have sex with her.”
Any takers for Baby Huey??

The other line I’ve heard about Grace’s Slumpbusters is “the ugliest, nastiest thing you could lay wood to.”
Factoring in the difference in equipment, and the problem that Huet has using his glove, odds are his problems are more of the leather variety. I hope this baseball euphemism isn’t popular among the French, or Huet’s going to probably be found dead in some kind of S&M club.

Not sure which is worse ...
Tha fact that you’re comparing their equipment, or that fact that you would have to have seen both of their respective equipment in order to compare them.

By equipment I clearly was referring to baseball gear (in this case, a bat) versus hockey goalie gear (leather pads. At least I’d presume leather).

That requires a negative rec
See, this running thing has caused you to be a little meaner, seriously – you can borrow my car. ;) OK, not so seriously, but still.
