Second City Hockey Hits The Road (?)
In what is quite possibly the the most malformed idea from a site that has a storied history of such things, Killion, Sam, and myself have come to a consensus that we'd like to at least attempt to coordinate a road trip to a drivable opposition stadium to watch our beloved Men of Four Feathers play in enemy territory.
As of right now, the date we have circled (in pencil) is Saturday, February 6th in St. Louis, which should make for an interesting experience should we encounter the Game Time crew. According to Sam, this is the only drivable Saturday night game whereupon he would not have to have an issue ready on Sunday for a Hawks home game, so that's another reason why we're kind of targeting this date. Adding to the insanity is a Hawks home game on Friday the 5th, which as of right now two of the three of us will be at, and be departing directly from.
While we know it's a ways off, we're posting this now so that hotels and tickets can be arranged for with enough lead time. So is there any interest in this, for this date in particular? Let us know what you think.

I'd be in
Would we be trying to get seats together or is everyone just fending for themselves in that department? Group seats sounds fun, if feasible.

We’ll gauge interest, and if it’s there, we’ll look into if we can get a firmed up number with enough time to spare.

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a goddamn shame.
I was planning on
Flying out from Northern California for a visit to see surprising Phoenix at the UC… roadtripping to see the Blues would be outstanding. I’m in.
that would be fun
I don’t know if my expenses would allow for it, but I’ll keep tabs on the plans, for sure!
yes, please!
add three more ladies to the list. we were already contemplating a birthday girl road trip for 2/6.
Music City?
Come on down to Nashville! The pizza sucks, but you can get some good BBQ and check out some live music while you’re down here.
"Get to the Choppa!"
I can try for it
All depends on what’s going on at that time, but I like driving down to St. Louis. Used to have hook up for a hotel down there, but not anymore. Assume I’d bring the kid and his g/f, could even make it his b-day present. Hopefully hubby would stay home.
If I can't be a good example, I'll just be a horrible warning
Please do this.
Please make this trip. I can tell you that I and my counterparts at IndianHeadNation.com are making the trip. There will be about 60 of us in the lower bowl where the Hawks attack twice. It would be awesome to get as many Hawks fans there as possible.
The Sheraton (sp?) is right across the street from Scottrade Center is where a lot of us are staying, I believe.
Would anyone be interested in taking Amtrak?
The thought of driving all that way on one day and then driving all the way back home the next…bleh.
The train station’s a couple blocks from the stadium and the Sheraton Hotel. Easy walking distance.
That ball hit deep! Way back! You can put it on the boooaaaard...YES!
Long drive into deep right center field! This ball is OUTTA HEEERRRREE!

This.
Plus, you can have a beverage or 8 on the way, right?
I might be out of the country for work when this goes on, but if im here, I’M THERE.

McClure and I were talking..
and there’s an early morning ride out on Saturday that sounds like it’s do-able and probably preferred over driving. Also it would save a night at a hotel… Sounds like this is the best bet so far
This sounds good on paper/HTML
How long is the train ride?
I've taken that route before
it can have some delays, but nothing too major. I don’t drive so I know that Amtrak, Megabus and Greyhound all have $40-50 RTs to St. Louis. obviously Amtrak is preferred because of on-board refreshments, and the views (well, that’s because I like trains).
I’m another person de-lurking to say I’m very interested in this…
NICE!
…we could party ‘Trading Places’ style…I’m trying to get some of my drunks pals so I’m good for a +4-6!

What time is the game?
I was assuming the stay over would be on Saturday to continue drinking well into the evening.

Game's at 7
This sounds like an amazing time. Are lurkers invited?
by ITypedforMiles on Oct 23, 2009 9:30 PM CDT up reply actions
'course.
Although maybe I won’t need one by that point, as I’ve apparently stopped lurking. I figured now was as good a time as any to jump right into things here.

LOL
I’d be bringing a lurker. 7 sounds great – I could do the drive that day easy (it doesn’t take 6 hours, even with my many stops and need to drive through Chicago to get there).
If we’re buying tickets in a block, I can buy 4 now. Can also reserve hotel now, as I can always cancel hotel if I can’t make it and could figure out something to do with the tickets I’m sure.
If I can't be a good example, I'll just be a horrible warning
there are several St. Louis games in 2010
I might try to see one in Columbus and/or Minneapolis, too, there’s a few of those. of course I wish I could see the Hawks in Detroit…
What's the background on the Gametime crew?
Kinda new here. Thanks.

strong interest
Not a poster but a regular reader and would be interested. Be a firm yes if you were able to go the route of a ticket block – you could ink me in for two. Any idea what kind of interest you’d need for that…minimum tickets?
If you can get group tickets nailed down....
then count me in. I can probably get 2 or 3 other guys as well.
DAG GUMMIT!
Definitely in.
ISU to St. Louis isnt bad at all. Update about the block tickets, because if were doing it that way I would for sure purchase one.
I'd be in. Interested in block ticket idea.
I’m already going to school in the St. Louis area and would be thrilled to go to this game. I’m just not brave enough to do it solo. I witnessed the treatment of away Minnesota Wild fans just last night at the Scottrade Center.
It's not that bad
I went to two Hawks-Blues games in St. Louis last year and never had a problem. You get booed in the bathroom line, if the Blues score the people around you scream a lot louder than normal, and some drunk ass kid might talk shit but that’s anywhere.
First game I went with my Blues-fan exgirlfriend. As we’re walking to our seats, this dude stops right in front of us, looks at our opposing jerseys, and says “it’ll never work.” Then he just walked away.
He was right.
Chicagoan in the Lou.
i know it's bruins hockey rules, but it's true

I suppose.
It wasn’t the worst atmosphere I’ve seen, boos and name-calling of course, but sitting in a section of hawks fans sounds a lot more agreeable than being alone in a section of blues fans.
If you buy block tickets
do we get kicked out by Sam for yelling “SHOOOOOOOOOOOT?”

I and a few others would be in. Amtrak and group tickets/hotel sounds perfect.
I'm in...
Group tickets/Hotel sound great. I’d be willing to help out if someone needs it. If not let me know how to book….and where…
