Versus is a third rate shitbag network

The Blackhawks have no business being associated with Versus, a third-rate shitbag network that is unworthy of the Indian.

Star-divide

Hooray, the old days are back, where you can't find the game on TV.  It's like Hawk Vision, but less insulting and more meaningless.

How can your genius negotiating position be that you should prevent people from seeing the only watchable product on your obscure network when you're up against the most popular (in terms of customer satisfaction) content delivery system in the richest country in the world?  Is Versus owned by the Tribune Co. also?

It is the fault of the NHL

More than it is the Blackhawks, although I do totally agree that they are a shitbag network.

wait what?

Well ...

There’s obviously Bassmaters on ESPN, Basstopia on Food Network (probably?) and Bass by Basswest on AMC.

They don’t do the best coverage, never have, but anyway the league can promote it’s top teams and players is a must. For people like me, who lack Comcast Sports in Racine, WI, my slim pickings leave me WGN weekend coverage and the rare Versus games, even more rare to get TV coverage of my Penguins.

Still, it’s sadly the best they can do post NHL lockout for TV coverage, even worse seeing as the NBC games, which are just nationally televised Versus games, aren’t around until the second half of the season. As much as I really hate their bias and stupidity, I wish ESPN could have a weekly NHL game more than Versus.

verus may suck but remember...

the service providers (comcast, directv, dishnet…) are pretty much the entire reason why all tv isn’t broadcast on the internet. Why do you think they’re going to start charging for hulu?

All this Versus crying makes me chuckle

While I can’t argue that Versus’ coverage blows, it’s better than the no national coverage we’d have without it. If the NHL had gone with the profit-sharing deal proposed by ESPN, we’d have coverage there like we do with NBC: All Pitt, Buffalo, Detroit, Boston, Rangers and Devils, all the time. Instead we get a decent mix of teams and good match-ups. Also, during the playoffs we had a game almost every night. Do you think ESPN or non-cable network would do that? ESPN would show a meaningless Red Sox-Rays game instead of the WCF.

Tell DirecTV to stop being cheap and pay up, or just live without the network. Channel section has now, and always has been, part of choosing a provider. This really isn’t any different.

Do you see ESPN clamoring for NHL TV rights?

No. You don’t. Comcast, which owns Vs. may soon own NBC Universal. If this deal goes through, you’ll see Vs. (or, under a new name) as a competitor to ESPN.

The new NBC/Comcast Sports Network?

Distribution across multiple NBC platforms, while it might make games even harder to find, would be an interesting possibility.
