I was trying to post the same thing

But you beat me to it. Daydream Nation, end our worries!

this would be fantastic

and would be a good way for the organ-I-zation to put the fiascos of the off season behind them…securing your future is what top-notch franchises do…

Thank God

Fantastic! Thanks for breaking the news. Can we get back to bitching about Hendry now?

Great to hear

good move by Bowman to get this over and done with now. Now I can go and get that PK88 jersey I’ve been wanting to buy.

Goodbye, Keith, then.

Why does the front office insist on sabotaging this team?

by Lost In NC on Nov 15, 2009 8:08 AM CST reply actions

Does this

really mean Duncan Keith is gone?i hope they can resign him too,he is a bbig part of the team

by csm on Nov 15, 2009 9:19 AM CST up reply actions

It doesn’t mean that at all.. still no reason to panic

by Matthew Dirt on Nov 15, 2009 9:55 AM CST up reply actions

I guess we can expect the

‘WHAT ABOUT KEITH!?!?!" panic now. Yay. Maybe our front office is trying to sustain a winner…does ANYONE EVVVVVER think that? You just can’t win.

The math on two outta three was always doable...

…right? I defer to the astute capologists around here, but that was my impression.

Until we hear the terms of the deals, and what it implies about keeping Keith, I don’t see this as a time to panic or celebrate.

At some point in his career, Keith will be the heart and soul of a championship team.

by cliffkoroll on Nov 15, 2009 11:29 AM CST up reply actions

It's not the front office

It’s actually Huet who is trying to sabotage us. Maybe we can just send Huet and Campbell to Anaheim for Giguere and Wisniewski and make the Ducks pay the airfare for all four players. How sweet would that be?

by NKLHD on Nov 15, 2009 10:42 AM CST up reply actions

Kane and Toews have the same agent, don’t they? Makes sense that they’d be signed together, their contracts negotiated separately from Keith. Even without that, though, seems odd to assume there’s trouble on the Keith front.

by ChicoMaki on Nov 15, 2009 10:50 AM CST up reply actions

does anyone know what the longest termed contract in recent NHL history has been?

and can anyone name a star player that took a significant hometown discount so they could play on a consistently winning team?

Thanks!

Well, does Rick DiPietro count?

Vincent Lecavalier – 11yr, $85m
Alexander Ovechkin – 13yr, $124m

Great news!

Shit like this can make a team play better. Bring on the circus!

The Kane/Toews contract

Probably had to be done first, as it’s gonna be of the 42 year variety and had to be set up before the league closes the loophole. Also, it was far more likely that those 2 would be targets of an offer sheet than Dunc would.

by AirTrafficAJ on Nov 15, 2009 12:11 PM CST reply actions

HOLD ON!

LeBrun actually said this on the Satellite Hotstove last night. Thus: his reporting is automatically complete bullshit, and nothing is in the works.

Please resume normal panicking.

WAIT FOR THE WHISTLE!

Good news on the home front

Wonder what both these phenoms will make? I expect somewhere between $5.25-6 million per season with the term ranging somewhere around 6-8 years.

Interesting that the league is reviewing the goaltender’s equipment and will have a set standard for next season which is something to keep a close eye on as certain goaltender may not be a valuable as some may assume. Anderson in Colorado is one that comes to mind with his shoulders pads so large and square that is must make Garth Snow proud, although he could’ve made them larger for last night shilacking at the hands of the ‘Nucks 8-2. Speaking of the ’Nucks I’ve also been suspicious of Luongo’s equipment as well for a long time now so it should get interesting on that front.

It's never about the eventual destination, but rather the long journey and its challenging obstacles that are presented and what it takes to overcome them, that makes the taste of success all the more worthwhile!!!
