Do you hate Detroit?

I usually reside at the St. Louis Game Time page, but I figured I would bring this opportunity to you since we have a common enemy. Over on the ESPN America page (that's ESPN for Brits) they currently have a vote up for which game to air live on Friday November 27th. The two choices are Canes/Thrashers or Red WIngs/Flames. We over at Game Time have been voting tirelessly to get the vote swung in favor of the non-Detroit game, but the deficit is quite large so we are looking for some help. You see we feel no Detroit fan should be happy and enjoy themselves, even if they live in the UK. Therefore here is the link, go to the page, vote early and vote often.

I also feel like we’d be doing a disservice to any hockey fan in Europe by making them watch whatever the hell the Canes are calling “hockey” right now… And against the Thrashers? Yikes…

Do you live in UK? No? Then you have no chance of watching this so help screw over Detroit fans. Or if you want to look at it from a different perspective, make the Brits watch a bad game…that’ll teach them from trying to tax our tea without giving us representation

Hockey’s from Canada. I’m not sure American patriotism really has a place in the, you know, the whole question of which hockey game the Brits should be shown live, at 1 am, when only a few kooky Canucks will be up anyway.

(Having been a hockey fan living in Britain, I can assure you only Canadians and a couple Americans watch these games. Most of the British hockey players got into the game in university after, get this, fucking figure skating for 12 years. Posh wankers.)

I assure you there is at least 1 scumbag fan of Detoliet that wants to watch that game. I don’t know if he’s Canadian, American, British, Sweedish, French, Indian (dot or feather), Japanese, Lebanese, Nepalese, or Martian, nor do I care. What I do care about is that asshole getting excited about seeing those bastards with the stupid flying tire on thier chest play hockey, and then having that excitement dashed by him finding a Southwest Division match up.

If we can accomplish that, I’ll be a happy camper. Join our crusade!

Actually

Hockey is a big mish mash of sports, it started in Canada but Native Americans had a very similer game. The British and Irish also had hockey like games (ex: Irish Hurling)

So no nation can get credit, it just all came together in Canada

Anyways I respect Detroit, the rivalry is great but they have just as storied of a franchise as we do

If the Flames win

wouldn’t you rather watch that? I caught the Leafs (yes, the Leafs) beat the snot out of Detroit on NHL network a couple Saturdays ago and it was a blast to watch.

Also, full disclosure: I still hate the Blues more than I’ll probably ever hate anyone else, especially now that the North Stars are now the Dallas Wild, or something like that.
