No Rest For The Wicked - Hawks @ Canucks Preview, Game Thread, Picnic/Pie-Eating Contest
Chicago Blackhawks at Vancouver Canucks, Nov 22, 2009 9:00 PM CST
@
The road is fuckin' hard,
It's also really fuckin' tough,
There's no question that
It don't take no guff.
The road is a B-I-Itch my friend
But it's the only fuckin' road I know,
When I'm snackin' on a tasty bush
Right after the show.
Having now won six straight games, nearly all facets of the Hawks game are starting to heat up, with even the once horrendous power play managing to Forrest Gump its way into the top 10 of the league after going 5 of 7 in the last two games against Calgary and Edmonton.
Much has been made of the "revenge factor" in this game for Willie Mitchell's completely legal hit on captain Jonathan Toews, which knocked Toews out of commission for a handful of games. At least publicly, the Hawks are saying all the correct things, noting that they'd rather get revenge for blowing a late lead, giving up two points and a W, but that's publicly. Remember that the resident ribeye-for-brains Ben Eager was not playing during the first meeting of the year as well, and could very well be looking to administer some vigilante justice on Mitchell independent of any coaching mandates. Colin Fraser has also been putting his face in harm's way quite a bit lately in attempt to show that he will indeed serve a purpose once Marian Hossa returns later this week.

Get ready to eat it Canucks, Hawks are rollin hard and fast!
I think were going to see the a rough and tough game out of Vancouver tonite. The Canucks have alot to prove in front of the GM Place crowd after the Hawks beat them up pretty bad at home in the Playoffs last season. Hawks need to come out strong and shut down the Sedin twins every chance we get.
Man do I miss Burish and his mouth!
How many more days til Burish is back?
Brian Campbell SuckS!
game 5 was nothing compared to game 6, which we already avenged btw…..
i mean no harm. i come in peace. unlike shane o'brien or kevin bieksa........
watch out for the Rypper too, he can whip anyone.......
GO CANUCKS GO!
Avenging a playoff elimination game loss with a regular season win in October? That’s quite a stretch.
www.secondcityhockey.com
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a goddamn shame.
what i meant was in front of the crowds. the canucks played a much worse game in front of the chicago crowd in game 6, and with that october game, we got a win in front of them
i mean no harm. i come in peace. unlike shane o'brien or kevin bieksa........
watch out for the Rypper too, he can whip anyone.......
GO CANUCKS GO!
nah, not particularly
The Hawks dominated that game until Toews was hit.
If anything, Canucks just managed to shift the momentum then. That hardly makes it up for what happened to them in game 6.

In front of the crowds?
You don’t “avenge” a loss on the road. Winning on someone else’s pond isn’t easy in the NHL. When you lose, it’s semi-acceptable. When you win, it’s a big deal. Only thing the ‘Nucks may have to avenge is Buff and Kaner making your goalie do this, and you’ll need to wait until at least April to do that.
Chicagoan in the Lou.

The comment at the top of the page is the best!
“I hate that stupid Dustin byfuglein. He’s an huge idiot.”
I hope big Buff sticks his ass right in Luongo’s face tonite, Lets watch our boys light up the scoreboard!

You did in Game 3 and almost in Game 4, and should’ve in Game 6 but….your goaltender decided to have a mental breakdown at the worst possible moment.
It's never about the eventual destination, but rather the long journey and its challenging obstacles that are presented and what it takes to overcome them, that makes the taste of success all the more worthwhile!!!
im still waiting
for burrows to pay for his hair pulling fiasco. what a bitch. it cant be said enough times. . what a bitch. what a bitch.
winning a early regular season match makes up for getting your ass handed to you in the playoffs? haha.
"...can i have a glass of whiskey and a slice of bread?"
There isn't a real fighter on that team
Cam Janssen destroyed two guys in one game two weeks ago, and even BJ Crombeen knocked the shit out of Bieksa’s little bitch ass.
Bieksa’s a bigger bitch than Sean Avery…

Last week? That was the other wat=y around…he was running from Ripper all game…had to fight Glass and Hordichuk instead.
Heck…I just posted the first one that came into the Youtube search.
You should see the amount of times he has made Stortini his bitch…or the one against Hal Gill…all 6’7" of him ( Ripper is 5’11"…)
He really does fight like a pitbull.
He has not refused anyone, as far as I remember.
All kidding asidethough, I hope we get a game devoid of all that shit. One fight to make Eager happy, and then away we go with a fun game between two talented teams…

I was 8 rows from the ice at that game
Janssen went for him in the third and he refused to drop. He just laughed.
I was laughing pretty hard too when Perron completed his hattie on Luongo.
Chicagoan in the Lou.
Dude…coach would kill him if he fought then. Game was probably about over when that happened.
Its all good. We are quite happy with Ripper over here on the Left Coast.
That was a weird game though. St Louis really took it to them…
It was a statement game for them…don’t follow them that close, but I would wager they were better after that game then they were before…sort of like the Canucks after the win last time they were in Chicago.

to hell with Mitchell…he’s a solid D but he’s of average consequence. Clean hit or not, it was intent to injure so I’m all for redemption in the vein of – you take out our 1st line C, we take yours out. So someone take a run at Henrietta the same night his sister returns.

Really?
I know you are a Hawks fan…but its funny Kieth gets a pass for his part in all that too.
Not going to go into it again and make it a “THING”, but he wasn’t entirely wearing the white hat..
Though…it looked worse on Burr’, its really nothing to make anyone “pay” about.
Whatever…thats so blase anyhow right…isn’t Mitchell the “bitch” right now?
All kidding aside, aren’t these developing rivalry games fun?
I mean…we REALLY hate the Flamers, and you guys REALLY hate the Dead Things, but its nice to have a little small “h” hate injected into the game sometimes…makes certain teams the ones you look forward to seeing come to town…
All in good fun or course…

Remember, you hate Mitchell right now.

Your tears don't fall, they crash around me.
It’s once again time to make the Louie weep after being embarrassed by the Hawks again and while we’re at it let’s hjammer the fuck out of Winnie too.
I know I’m being a little greedy but I would be ecstatic if the ‘Hawks made it 3-for-3 on this trip and extended their lead atop the Central Division. But considering it’s the ‘Hawks 3rd game in 4 nights, on the road no less, I’d still be pleased if they still walked away with just a point.
Niemi in goal? Should be an adventure as he couldn’t do any worse than what he started in Colorado, but I’m confident that he can do the job and get the W.

But I think there’s no team where I hate their players as much as Vancouver. The Sedins are creep central. Burrows is a big female. Mitchell is a gloried goon. And Bieksa is tied with Phaneuf as worst NHL players in history.

Everything else after this is just Hossa-flavored icing on top of a 7-game-winning-streak cake.
OM NOM NOM.
If anything
This just confirms we have a legitimate number 2 goalie.
"Everything I know about life, I learned from my father watching the Blackhawks. It can all be summed up in 2 words, 2 simple words that ring over and over in my memory. Detroit Sucks!!! Detroit Sucks!!!"
Exactly!
We should not overreact and believe there is a goalie controversy. Niemi has solidified his position as a number 2 goalie. Q can probably have faith in giving Huet more rest since Huet isn’t a Kipprusof type of goalie that can handle a 60+ game workload.
Christ, that's not good.
Even with the win, Joel Quenneville couldn’t have been happy that the Blackhawks were 16-for-42 in the faceoff circle.
wait what?
Just reading through the thread since I was at the bears game.
It was just like the books I read. Only stopped for pictures and when words were in all caps. I wish WGN replayed the games at night like CSN does. Looks like I’ll be watching the MLS Cup replay at 2 on ESPN.
(Sidenote to all international soccer fans: Here is the Henry handball game. Just click to knock the ball into the goal and cause Irishmen everywhere to drink (more).)
twitter.com/BlackhawksDL
The worst part
Is that FIFA actually had a game or two replayed due to bad calls, if I remember the one article I read, yet because the Irish are complaining about bad calls they are saying no go on a replay game. However, that was a few days ago when I read that and I am drunk, so take that at face value, or even less if possible.
wait what?
True.
But the cited reference in denying the FAI request for a replay was that in the previous game the referee incorrectly applied the rules. In this case he just Koharski-d it. No chance for a replay, especially since FIFA got France into the World Cup. The only reason there was a seeded playoff was to protect the ‘big’ teams like the Surrender Monkeys, Portugal, and the Germans (that ended up not having to play a play-off).
I’d put this on the Global Futbol blog, but it’s not accessible.

So what I wrote
Not only made some sense but actually had some truth/backing to it? YAY ME. I do totally agree with you on the protecting part, I do remember that was part of the beef Ireland (justly) had, was like WTF is this seeded/non seeded we are playing where and when? bs. I’m pretty sure Zidane is gone, so it’s not like he can threaten any of the ref’s with headbutts, so what’s the deal?
wait what?
