Trade Deadline...
I don't know why, but with Matt having his big-boy job get in the way, I have decided that I will live-blog during deadline day. I've always wanted to try it, it will probably be an epic failure, and will include a lot of thoughts about how much I hate Pierre McGuire. But it could be fun. Tune in next wednesday.
Lets also open this post up for some early trade-deadline talk. The first big trade of the deadline time was just made - The Pens traded Ryan Whitney to the Ducks for Chris Kunitz and Eric Tangradi. Check out PensBurgh for some analysis.
So use this thread to talk about what trades you think the Hawks will make - What trades would you like the Hawks to make? Who do you think the big buyers and sellers will be?
We can also use this post for a new weekly poll:

Trade
I think Dale Tallon is trying like heck to acquire a center. A veteran who can have an impact on face-offs.
One more thought from a 300 level season ticket holder. Telll me what you think.. Khabby is still in the top 5 goalies in the league as far as fundamentals go. He is never out of position and never abandons his butterfly. I would assume that he is gone next year no matter what. I think Huet is great but not as solid as Khabby..So why not dump more salary off of the payroll and sign a recently demoted and young Pascal Leclaire from the Columbus Blue Jackets. He is a goalie that has put a string of 5 shutouts together and could be here for ten years. Make it happen Dale..
Why?
Would Columbus trade for Khabibulin when Mason is tearing it up? This will never happen.
Columbus trade for Pascal Leclaire
Columbus wouldnt trade for Khabibulin…I said I assumed he would be gone and off of our payroll for next year.. I meant that I wouldnt mind seeing Huet go to Columbus for the much younger Pascal Leclaire…who is now the back up in Columbus due to the stellar play of Steve Mason.. With Huet’s salary gone and Khabi’s gone, we could sign a great and a young former starting goalie who could potentially be here for a long time…
Huet is terrible
Tallon should really try to move him in the off-season, though nobody would want that albatross of a bad contract.

Blackhawks possible trades..
I personally would love to see Dustin Byfuglien gone by the time the trade deadline is here. He is lazy, dumb, and totally unmotivated to say the least. I cant stand to here him speak in interviews anymore as well. Someone needs to touch him with a live wire to wake him up out of his coma that he is in 24/7. 3.3 million for his effort????Give me a break. He is good for stickhandling himself out of scoring chances and taking wrist shots from impossible angles where the goalie doesnt even have to move….High to the glove side. In the chest..5 feet wide…Thats all he does. he takes what pretty much consists of warm up shots…It makes me sick. Keep padding these goalies save percentage please…Puke. As Denis Lemuiex from SlapShot said, “My allergies to Byfuglien you know, has returned”.
Agreed!
When I see that a pass is coming to Buff and he will neither be able to shoot or pass, I just close my eyes for 2-3 seconds and hope the other team isn’t on a 3-2 break. His upside lies though in planting his ass in front of the goal. He’s basically a black Troy Brouwer.
The only real need I see for the Hawks is a veteran face-off guy
The team is in good shape, but being 28th or 29th or whatever it is on the face-off kills them some games. Having a solid veteran who can win you a key face-off would be great, and it shouldn’t be hard to pry a guy like that from a losing team. They had Yanic Perrault a year too soon.
There’s other trades they should make after the season. Unloading the contracts of Byfuglien and Sopel to re-sign many of the free agents (10 RFA and 5 UFA, I think) is key. It’d also be amazing if Tallon could somehow get rid of Huet and either re-sign Khabibulin or find someone who doesn’t kill the team (or pitch a shutout, with no in between).

I'd like
to see them trade:
Seabrook & Skille for Jokinen
Buff for a prospect or a draft pick
A draft pick fot Hinote
I don’t see these happening. There is talk they might pick up Dominic Moore from Toronto. That would be a good pick up. I also would like to see the Hawks pick up a guy like Dan Hinote.
In the off season, I’d like to see Byfuglien, Seabrook, and Huet traded. All three are a waste of money.
