Trade Deadline Bonanza!!: Hour 3

11:30:  It's a new window, it's a new hour, it's a new day....and I'm feelin' good.  Ba dum, ba dum, ba da ba ba da dum.....

11:33:  Uh-oh, Billy Jaffe has removed his coat.  It's about to get stupid up in here!!

11:35:  E.J. Hradek is reporting that the Flames will give up Matthew Lombardi and a 1st rounder as part of any Jokinen deal.

11:41:  The Ducks have sent Steve Montador to the Bruins for Peteri Nokelainen.  Montador was a name that I know some Hawks fans wanted.  He's a very steady d-man, Boston has done well here.

11:45:  The Jokinen deal is done, and Prust is going with Lombardi and a 1st rounder, we assume to beat the shit out of ASU frat boys.

11:54:  Bruce Garrioch is making noise, from Puck Daddy, that Steven Reinprecht could be coming to Chicago.  Decent, I guess.  50%+ on faceoffs the past two seasons, not so this year.  I think we can do better.

11:59:  I just want everyone to know I'm missing the all 90's Last Letter Game on Q101 for this.  If I miss out on the Soup Dragons' "Divine Thing", you're all gonna pay.  Oh, you'll pay.

12:03 PM: So far, the only announcement today that has me at all excited is Nine Inch Nails at Northerly Island in May.

12:06: Apparently, Ovechkin was hurt in practice today.  Check out Japers for info.

12:13:  Andy Strickland on Hockeybuzz.com, one of the few non-nutcases on there, is reporting that Dominic Moore will be the one to land here.  This is probably the move that makes the most sense.  Though not a star, a very solid #3 center, which after bolland proving to be a passable #2, would work.  Above par on faceoffs, good in his own end.  Let's hope this happens.

12:16: On NHL Live now, Moore coming to Chicago.  Haven't heard for what yet...

12:26:  Mark Recchi had better get used to rotaries and racism, as he's headed to Boston.  Insert cliche about veteran, playoff experience.

12:39:  Moving to a new window for hour 4

Oh boy … Calgary really upped the ante in the west. In my mind, that puts Chicago a clear fourth with respect to legitimate chances for a deep run. Vancouver is coming on, too, a close 5th behind us. I wonder if just a depth acquisition or two will be enough for us to stay in the race come mid-April …

I don't think Calgary has the cap room

obviously for the deal to be official they must have some cap room, but I think they need to make another move.

Even worse is it looks like we’re behind in the Moore race and no word on Antripov (who I would love)

Bill Clement

says Khabby is the only piece they can add to a major trade.

They need a D man apparently. Other trade pieces include Cam Barker, Wiz, and Skille

Trading the team's best goaltender down the stretch would be a bad idea

The team won’t go anywhere with Huet starting most of the games.

Bruce Garrioch had Malkin going to the Kings earlier this off-season. Garrioch, in other words, divines player movement based on the spatter pattern his piss makes on the floor. He couldn’t foretell a real trade if the player involved texted him.

I forgot to mention that..

….Garrioch sees the sky as green. Thanks for adding that.

Moore has a lot of fight and grit (Burke wanted very much to re-sign him … on a team that basically had even its sweater colours for sale). He’s also a really good team guy. Good acquisition for us. He’s no 2nd-line centre, and his numbers are “high” because he’s getting a lot of minutes, AND he’s not going to be a real difference-maker, but this is a good thing all the same.

I’m not exactly ecstatic that we added another 180-pounder to the line-up; still, gotta stay positive …….

Just curious, where did you find that?

ESPN doesn’t seem to have Faceoff %, at least not that I can find. Mostly, I’m looking for some kind of league leaders for this.

use NHL.com.. they have much better stats

Tremendous.

I wish hockey-reference.com was nearly as good as baseball-reference.com.

Still can’t find what we’re giving up. Anyone know details yet???

by ChicoMaki on Mar 4, 2009 12:41 PM CST up reply actions

I actually can't find the deal confirmed anywhere.

nhl.com, espn.com, and the Blackhawks site make no mention of it. And ESPN’s live blog hasn’t mentioned it either.
