Trade Day Reactions
I'll be around later with a more detailed reaction about yesterday's action - but for now I just wanted to throw this up here and let you all talk amongst yourselves.

Given the Hawks lack of cap space
what were you guys really expecting?
Pahlsson addresses two of biggest issues this team has right now, and he not only has playoff experience, but a history of really turning it on in the playoffs.
We needed a center
We got a center. Now Sharp and VERSTEEG! can go back to the wings, and when you start drawing up what lines we’ll have, well it looks better on paper to me.
So we’ll see what happens.
White Sox: Trying to roll a hard six.
False Hope for Trade Deadline
Whenever the trade deadline approaches people always clamor for the big splash. What people forget is that:
1. The NHL salary cap seriously decreases of the chance of these kind of trades happening.
2. With only roughly 20 games, it’s hard to incorporate a dynamic player seamless and many GM’s don’t want to tinker with chemistry. (Don’t start a fight about chemistry please)
3. In retrospect I can’t remember blockbuster deadline trade that has worked. (exception: Hossa)
I personally wanted to see Radek Bonk in a Hawks sweater, but looking at Nashville being our division rival, our small cap space, what would we give up etc etc. I am perfectly content with this trade.
Pahlsson will turn out an excellent addition
He is one of the more underrated players in hockey and gives the Blackhawks precisely what they have screaming need for at center and on face-offs. Pahlsson did a lot of the garbage work in Anaheim that made the Mighty Ducks a good hockey team.
Pahlsson is a big shot in the arm to this team’s chances of doing something in the playoffs. Obviously he needs to overcome mono and get back on the ice, but all indications are that he is on the road to recovery.
Wisniewski is and will forever be a 5/6 type defense man. He gave Chicago what he had to give and I liked the guy. But he won’t be terribly missed. Cam Barker is ready to step up and assume a bigger role, and the organ-I-zation is blessed with some good defenseman prospects in the minors.
Lets Hope So
I have only seen Pahlsson play a couple of times, but if he is half as good as our buddy Earl states over at his Battle of California blog, I think we made a great move. Check what we had to say, some real interesting thoughts. Also, considering the guy is coming off Mono and missed a couple months, he has to be motivated to finish out the season and playoffs strong to earn himself a decent contract somewhere this summer.

I have no idea how this trade will work out for the Blackhawks but I love the In Living Color reference.
