Well... who had the Hawks in 4 anyway?
So I was going to write a full recap now but I realized I was too drunk to try that so I think I'll wait til tomorrrow. I think I'll just listen to my new Neil Young archive live LP and gradually fall asleep.
Guess what though? Very few people thought the Hawks would sweep this series. Sure, Sarah Spain called me a pussy tonight, but I'm OK with that... kinda.
The Hawks were outplayed tonight - don't expect that for Game 4. If there was one game this would happen, this was it.

all the photos linked in the above “view more photos” seem to only highlight the douchebaggery that is the flames… how bout some pics of the hawks scoring or maybe the fights?
The AP provides the photo pool. The editors from this site don't
pick what they’d like to include.

I posted this on the Game thread, when I meant to put it here
One nice thing from the game last night, The Canadian dilemma is finally over.
Thousands of Canadians can rest easy now, knowing that they have found the answer to so many prayers
The Calgary Flames have become the new Canadian DIVE TEAM
Good Lord, I haven’t seen people so eager to go down since I went to 10 Mark Park in Germany.

A little too much argy-bargy
I think the refs are going to have to get the whistles going a little bit more than they have. At every stoppage there is a scrum to see who can be a bigger pussy and push someone around who isn’t looking or ready for it. Yeah yeah yeah playoff hockey, but you have to admit that it is getting ridiculous.
How nice was it to see Runny Bourque get flattened and spend some much deserved alone time in the box?
Yeah. What happened at the end was a direct
result of so much cheap shit happening after the whistle the entire game. I’d complain about the refs appearing to be overly influenced by Keenan’s crybaby whining after the first few games, but then the Hawks had their chances in the 3rd and failed to convert. So I’m not blaming officiating for the loss by any means, but I’d like to see them get a better handle on some of the extracurricular stuff. There’s a line between extra leniency during the playoffs, and lax officiating that starts to lose control of the game.
But overall the game wasn’t as bad as the score would appear. Calgary got the bounces in this one. The hawks got the posts.
However, I would like to see Renee-nay’s life expectancy decreased by a few more years the next few games.

I agree with you; we lost because of Calgary taking advantage of opportunities and not because of officiating. You are right in saying that the officiating is lax. It’s only a matter of time now that the game totally gets away from the officials. I don’t think they could call a tight game now if they wanted to because of the lack of order in the first three games.

my least favorite player for a while now has been Mikael Samuelsson...
but he is quickly getting replaced by Bourque…it makes me even happier now knowing how much i booed him at games last year while he was attempting to be useful on our team.
As much as I enjoyed the hit Burish
put on at the end of the game breaking his stick, let’s hope the NHL doesn’t decide that he should be suspended for it…
Yeah. He was great on the PK in particular last night.
We don’t need to lose him for a game.
Got more soul than a sock with a hole.
I never liked you Bourque!
Makes me sick to see how much effort he gives now after more than two years of perimeter playing b.s. Burish’s little lovetap at the end of the game just proves to me that the other Hawks never liked him either. Come to think of it… I never liked Aucoin either…
I couln't tell
but did Bourque finally learn good hygiene and get rid of that fuckin unibrow?
You and I are gonna live forever

I am really getting sick of calgary giving havlat shit after every play. Then they turn into a bunch of skirts when the 4th line was in. Whatever. Shows what kind of garbage team they are. A little pushing and shoving is fine, but you can tell they are trying to instigate with our best players. Pussies.
If it wasn’t for a couple very lucky goals I think the game would have went into overtime. Calgary caught some breaks and should be grateful, because their 60 minutes of stellar game play sure didn’t win them the game.
I am also sick and tired of seeing rene “don’t call me renee” bourque and dion “sloppy seconds” phaneuf out there. Pieces of shit they are.
I didn’t think we’d sweep them by the way, but it would have been nice.

At Least The Bar Was Fun
And if Burish manages to get suspened because his stick broke like a match, I may fly to NY to personally slap Coley Campbell around.
We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.
Whirlaway
was pretty fun. It took the sting out of the loss…a little. My lasting memory from last night was Walker punching Iggy at the end of the game.
Long time listener, first time poster
Hey all, first I’d like to give mad props to the bloggers here—-I’ve been reading all season and you do a fantastic job. On to last night’s game, and series feelings in general . . .
Is it just me or has Calgary been getting purely lucky goals all series? Of the 8 they’ve scored, at least 3 have been pure luck from what I can recall—-the BS deflection off Walker’s skate in Game 1, the BS Borque goal last night, and the BS Moss 2 on 2 goal from last night. It honestly seems to me that they are getting all of the bounces thus far in the series, and it bodes well for us that we’re up 2-1 despite that fact.
As for last night, again, I really believe Calgary and Kippy tried to give us the game, but luck wasn’t on our side. Kippy seemed to be in the right place at the right times. We sustained great pressure all game, the PP looked pretty damn good getting pucks to the net; it just wasn’t our game.
It seemed pretty apparent last night that the refs need to get their heads out of their asses. Chippiness after the play is one thing, but having a constant barrage on our guys after every whistle is a little much. Plus, if you’re going to let them punch our guys in the head after the whistles, get out of the way when Eager and Seabs want to have a go with Vandemeer and Phaneuf, and let Iginla try to fight Buff if he’s that stupid. It’s getting really frustrating to watch what goes on after the whistle, though in the 3rd, especially when it was 4-1, we put some big, big hits on their guys.
Anyway, sorry for the stream-of-consciousness post, just wanted to say hey.
A goal is a goal
as my old coach used to say. Or, as Sam Elliot (doing the best Sam Elliot impressin in years) said in “The Big Lebowski,” “Sometimes you eat the bear; sometimes the bear eats you.” Although I would think that it would be one time, and not sometimes but what the hell do I know?
