Buff suspended?
So far this is just from a comment on Sassone's blog but here you go:
"NHL Live radio show is reporting (uncomfirmed so far) that Byfuglien was assesed a roughing penalty in the 2nd to last scrum last night and sent to the locker room, he then reportedly was back on the ice for the last "get together" and therefore will likely be suspended."
Anyone listen to NHL Live and know more about this?
I'll post updates if I hear/read anything
UPDATE: It sounds like this was all just a misunderstanding with an incorrect scoresheet. It was Seabrook that got the penalty and sent off to the dressing room so Buff was fine to be on the ice...
You can now go back to your regularly scheduled drinking..

if Buff is suspended
Do you think they might consider calling up Aliu? Kid just missed making the team, and has been tearing it up in Rockford last I heard.

ouch
I missed that. looks like him and Beach were involved in some sort of brawl with the Admirals at the end of a game. Sucks considering Aliu had Rockford’s only 2 goals in the prior 2 games and the only goal in that game.

To clarify, the incident is an insubordination issue and had nothing to do with the Milwaukee Admirals. It happened in Milwaukee well after game one. I don’t know the whole story but I will say the word “embarrassing” was relayed to me and from the piece of the story I believe to be true, I would say that’s a good term to use. I’m under the impression the story, in some limited form, will get out at some point. I’m also under the impression the incident, and how its going to be handled, has been turned over to the Chicago Blackhawks. But Aliu and Beach were kicked off the IceHogs on Friday and it was made clear they weren’t welcome back this season, which for Rockford, ended Tuesday night anyhow.

So I just read this on HFBoards.com
So there seems to be some belief that the scoresheet is wrong and it was Seabrook that should have gotten the roughing penalty. Hopefully the scoresheet was wrong…
Canadians.
I too was reading the Sassone blog, and it’s turned into a pissing contest with a couple of Canadian invaders talking shit post after post. When the Hawks eliminate the Lames (and we will), I say we organize a blog strike on the Calgary Sun’s home page. Give em’ a taste of their own medicine hat, eh?
Not to change the subject......
Is there going to be any unofficial presence of the committed Indian at the convention?
Some more truly rich
commentary from Michelle Keenan on Sassone’s blog.
“I don’t care what they say,” Keenan said. “It’s not something we’re paying any attention to. Tactics are different than verbal. Talk is cheap. You can say all you want verbally. It doesn’t matter. It’s what you do in terms of your actions.”
The guy’s something else. Let’s hope the player’s are ignoring this though. At this point, it’s less about the ref’s than just trying to annoy and distract the Hawks. I’m sure Q will have them focused, leaving us to think of different ways of watching Keenan die (right now I’m picturing him draped in honey covered in fire ants).
I think the game may be officiated slightly different tomorrow, especially in the beginning, and the Hawks don’t want to get caught down a man in Calgary much of the first. If the same amount of after the whistle kerfufflisms are going on, then its up to the Hawks D, and Buff and Eager to go after Iginla and Cammelleri every shift.
But the PP is big. We had our chances yesterday to either extend the lead in the 1st, or get back in it in the 3rd, and we failed. We get the power play going and the series is over.
Got more soul than a sock with a hole.
Byfuglien clarity
An emailer to the NHL Live Show first brought up the incident; the producer checked the erroneous Scoresheet; the announcers conveyed the wrong Info.
notes
Just heard on WMVP ESPN1000 that there will be no suspension for Burish and Kane was on the ice practicing today. Keenan’s tears were for naught.
Kane must be feeling better
That’s great to hear Patrick’s tummy is ok and he can actually go out and earn his paycheck.. I understand he is headhunted and he is small. But I haven’t seen a lot of heart (or Goals) in a few months. I will sit back and try to deflect the flaming arrows.

just remember his age…a lot of people thought Datsyuk was too small and soft when he was young too. It’s going to be on Kane to hit the weights a bit more though because right now he’s heading down the Paul Kariya path. He’s not going to put on any more height but he can fill into his frame with age and some moderate lifting.
Also
of course it would also help if the Hawks could acquire a skilled big man or physical player to play wing along side of Toews/Kane. Perhaps it’s going to be Beach in the future…maybe Aliu but the Hawks definitely need one or two physical skilled forwards…doesn’t have to be an Iginla type but a Jordan Staal type would be great and hopefully Beach will be that type of player. Brouwer shouldn’t be on a #1 or 2 line…Buff should be that type of player but obviously his hands and erratic play are going to prevent that.
Eager
he played a couple shifts last night with Toews and Sharp towards the end of the second and looked really, surprisingly good with them. He has shown this year that he may finally be maturing and turning into some of the player people though he would be when he was drafted in the first round by Phoenix in 2002, even showing he has decent hands with the puck. He looked good enough with the two of them where I would potentially give that some further investigation; maybe not in the playoffs but in training camp next year possibly.

Gotta love how intense he plays too
Every shift he is out there you can tell he is going to just run someone and put 100% effort into that hit as well, scary for the defenders out there when you have him coming after you
Lets Go Hawks!

have to admit
last year I didn’t like him much. This year he has won me over slowly. I like how he was able to keep up with Toews and Sharp too. He didn’t seem like he was over matched by there speed

Eager
yeah Eager does have surprising speed and skating ability for a dude his size and possibly he could contend for a top line spot but I think the thing that will hold him back at least with Coach Q is his tendency to take dumb penalties. If he can check himself from those then I’m all for giving him Brouwer’s spot if Q is going to keep one of these types on the first line. Put him on the first line tomorrow night and see if he can handle himself…if he takes a dumb penalty like the shot he put on that dude from Edmonton then demote him back to the 4th line. I’d especially like to see him bury Cammalleri into the ground.
