Scoreboard Watching
Just because the Hawks aren't playing tonight doesn't mean you can go talk to your girlfriend/child/mom/dog. There's still playoff hockey to watch. Here are the games for tonight:
Detroit @ Columbus 6:00 - Detroit leads 2-0, this is the first playoff game ever in Columbus. Didn't help the Jackets - they lost
Pittsburgh @ Philadelphia 6:00 - Penguins lead the series 2-1 - this one should be fun, this is my favorite series so far outside of the Hawks/Flames. Another solid game - Pens win
New Jersey @ Carolina 6:30 - Devils lead 2-1 One of the more bizarre endings in the playoffs - Broduer loses it.
Vancouver @ St. Losers 7:00 - St. Louis loses and they're done. Pour one out for the Blues - they're getting the golf clubs ready.
San Jose @ Anaheim 9:30 - Ducks beat the Sharks both games in San Jose. I'm going to be before this one is done but the Sharks are in the lead. Wiz has a goal though - the legend continues.

F the Penguins.
I’m really getting sick of how the league (and Versus and NBC) thinks people will only watch hockey if Pittsburgh is playing. Sidney Crosby isn’t even liked by most people outside of Shittsburgh because he constantly whines about penalties, he dives, and he sucker punches guys in the balls. I’d much rather watch Carolina/New Jersey or the Red Wings game. Thank god Rescue Me is on tonight.
I like that in your last sentence you capitalized 3 of 7 words but not god

I’m not thanking a specific god, so I figured the capitalization wasn’t necessary. Then again it’s a blog, and my capitalization is sporadic at best.
Not criticizing. I noticed myself do the same thing in an email today and thought it was funny. My writing is sure to discourage the multiple teachers that post on here

I'm one of the three English teachers on here
and I not only approve of not capitalizing “god,” I encourage it.
Then again, I’m vehemently anti-religion (though I keep my personal views out of my classroom as much as possible).
As a side note, I just realized that, while I easily have the most comments out of anyone that posts here, most of them are off-topic. Oh well.
NOW STOP IT RIGHT HERE
I'm an English teacher
and if you like, I can tell you why it’s grammatically correct to not capitalize the word ‘god.’
Yeah, didn’t think so.

Yes, but can you tell me why it’s not grammatically correct to split infinitives?
by stickhandler on Apr 22, 2009 8:43 AM CDT up reply actions
ooooo
grammar burn.

by Original Six on Apr 22, 2009 9:17 AM CDT up reply actions
That rule is based on Latin grammar
where it is impossible to split infinitives. Since English is a Germanic language, there is no requirement to maintain the verb-infinitive relationship for understanding, but because all the smart people who designed these grammar rules about two hundred years ago spoke Latin and considered it the “highest language,” they decided to include certain Latin-based grammar rules into our language. So the rule is bullshit; I never abide by it.

I slept through English class in High School. Does that count for anything?

I wanted to equip my room with cots just so kids wouldn’t feel they were getting away with anything.
I had a Chemistry teacher 1st period who told us as long as our current grade was an A we could sleep.

Come on Philly, keep this interesting!
I really want them to win. Sidney Crosby can suck my non-existent balls.
I know you guys don't love the Wings but check out this hit
by Brad Stuart on R. J. Umburger.
Please disregard the FSN Detroit play by play.

Umburger has a thing for getting lit up, huh?
I think Kunitz’s hit on Timonen should be in the running for hit of the playoffs too
VERY OFF TOPIC
This is off-topic but it is not worth a fanpost, and since this is the most recent thread I thought its appropriate.
Onward, this is my first year reading here, and disappointed I haven’t been reading before. The first time I read mjthor posted the important live feed, and the more important game time beer. I envy him. I wish there was something I could post on game days that is the norm. I began to ponder possible game day posts I could do that people would enjoy.
I came to the conclusion that since I am a 19 year old college student, and play NHL 09 on XBOX 360, I could incorporate that into amusing everyone else. I saw on ESPN that they simulated the playoffs using NHL 09 and thought it was pretty interesting.
So I guess what I am trying to say is starting next year, would you guys be interested in seeing the days game simulated and posted with stats and whatnot. I guess its pointless, but I suppose interesting.
Feedback is appreciated.
Lets go Hawks! Detroit Sucks!
we’ve only been around for this year – and when we started we really really sucked. Now we only marginally suck. but thanks for the compliments
Thor started the feeds and beers on his own and it just became a staple of the threads. You’re more than welcome to start that up if you’d like. Could be interesting…
You could always add it to the comments on the games blog.
What school are you at and what year are you? I’m a freshman at Loyola.

I don't think we did.
Last time we went to an apartment at the noles I think (I have no idea if that info is even right let alone spelled correctly.) I do remember getting some really good pizza. That shit was huge. And I can’t remember what the name of the dorm we stayed in.

Go HUSKIES
I live on Hillcrest
"Oh, that's easy. White Sox. I'm not one of these fair-weather fans. You go to Wrigley Field, you have a beer; beautiful people up there. People aren't watching the game. It's not serious. White Sox, that's baseball. South Side." -O'Bama
Like chicagomattkill said, I just started doing that.
I don’t need no goddamn permission. What kept me doing it is Sam said, after the first one, something along the lines of, “This is awesome, can you do this for every game?”
and I said “You bet your sweet ass.”
and everyone lived happily ever after.
NOW STOP IT RIGHT HERE
I agree with Chico
I can’t get alot of the Beers downstate. Which I would like to go on record as saying “That’s Not Right”

Brodeur is a little bitch!
He just threw a temper tantrum because he lost the game for the Devils with .02 seconds left in the 3rd period!
It was interference.....
if you don’t require the goalie to be in the blue paint. It was the right non-call.

Yo
A visit to Big Bad Bettman-Approved Website shows that SB Nation blog posts are being featured on the front page.
Sam et al — get on that, willya?

The NHL picks what they want to feature on the site – somehow our Jesus Havlat Christ posts haven’t really caught the eye of Bettman
He only has eyes for Crosby
the pedophile that he is.

HAHAHAHA
From the Bettman approved link about Kane playing in Game 4:
“To be honest with you, I had a funeral to go back to in Chicago,” the 20-year-old Blackhawks superstar told a gathered horde of reporters on Tuesday afternoon at Calgary’s Pengrowth Saddledome.
“The goldfish that I had since I was 10 years old died. So I had to go back and, you know, say my prayers and flush him down the toilet.”
Ba-dump-bump. He’ll be here all week. Try the veal, and remember to tip your waitresses.
