Phaneuf Sits Tonight
I'm guessing that means Anders Eriksson plays in his spot - Matchsticks and Gasoline has the lines like this:
Leopold - Sarich
Aucoin - Pardy
Eriksson - Vandermeer
That's a huge loss for the Flames
Oh, but Matt Walker is all man and will be playing tonight, no link yet but it's on Twitter so it must be true, right?

They lose Phaneuf,
we lose Walker. I’d say that’s an even trade.
(self-flagellation in progress in order to atone for even thinking about thinking about good thoughts in re tonight’s game)

Well, how about that
Am I being put in a position to offer — erm — praise for Matt Walker?
I mean — a broken finger implies some inability to grip his stick (shaddup). We’ve ripped on him something fierce, but if he plays through that, and plays reasonably well? Props.

I gotta say, although the Walker hate has been palpable on this site (and I’ve participated in it quite willingly), he hasn’t played as poorly as he had been through the last half of the season. He’s not been a rock out there or anything, but I really haven’t been able to see mistakes in his play that Johnson or Sopel wouldn’t be making themselves.
Anaheim is maybe the only team in the playoffs this year that doesn’t have a comparable 6th defenseman.
I’m happy to be convinced otherwise, of course, but in the games we won, Walker played well, or well enough anyway; and in the games we lost, even if Walker had played like Keith we still wouldn’t have won, because the team as a whole played flat. Up until Game 5, I was far more worried about Campbell’s play than anything else about either team.
Here here!
If Hawks ‘D’ can muster Game 5 overall performance with some consistency, we’ll have a very respective playoff run. It really looked like they were inspiration for all the forward lines that night.
"Call Detroit, tell dem... BULLSHIT!"
Cannot disagree with any of this. Saturday was the first
night Campbell looked anywhere close to a guy worth that contract.
Got more soul than a sock with a hole.
