great job!, now....

get ready for the canucks and roberto luongo….yikes.

can’t wait for the schedule to come out though. should be lots of fun. if the hawks can ever score more than 1 goal in a game.

Damn straight! Well put!

Maybe for the next round, while the boys have Playoff beards, they should shave their heads so Burrows won’t have anything to yank on.

You guys should have Detroit viewing parties

this is getting to be ridiculous

So Vancooter gets home-ice, right?

Kinda sucks that the Hawks had more points but lose home ice.

White Sox: Trying to roll a hard six.

by vince_ on Apr 28, 2009 12:16 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

yep

I think after the first round, home ice should be based on points, and ignore the top 3 automatic seeds

Growin a playoff beard for charity. Detroit sucks.

Its no different than any other sport

oh well, couple more games from Khabibulin like that and it doesn’t really matter where they play

Congrats

CHI was definitely the better team in this series. You guys certainly have a bright future ahead of you, however this post season goes. Nice to see a healthy hockey team back in Chicago after so long.

Hey all. Looking forward to a Canucks-Hawks series. Calgary was not a great test for the Hawks. The Canucks will be, and vice versa. Crap, we’ve been waiting so long to play more playoff hockey. I hope some of your Hawks are banged up.
PS: Yes, the Hawks should shave their heads. Burrows is coming!

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 28, 2009 12:36 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Calgary not a great test!!!

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Calgary have 46 wins to your 45 wins? Didn’t Calgary reach the Finals in 2004 and have made the playoffs in 5 stright seasons compared with your 1? Hasn’t Luongo won only 1 2nd round playoff game, the same as Carey Price right?
The Flames are a far better test and team than Vancouver, the flying V will be golfing very soon.
The Hawks have had an amazing season and it isn’t ending to VANCOUVER LMAO!!!

by hawks61 on Apr 28, 2009 12:44 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Oh geez, if you’re going to argue with me, at least make some logical sense.
Regular season wins mean NOTHING in the playoffs. Just ask San Jose.

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 28, 2009 12:46 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Read past the first line...

…and you’ll see that I compare Luongo’s playoff miracles to that of Carey Price- 1 win past the 2nd round!!!

by hawks61 on Apr 28, 2009 12:56 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

You’re talking about the past. It means nothing NOW. This is a different team.

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 28, 2009 1:31 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hawks will beat Nucks!!!

Outside of Thing 1 and Thing 2 the Nucks simply have ZERO offence! Wellwood? Sundin? Ooops…I’m bad he’s hurt and won’t be ready for Game 1! Kesler and Burrows? Will get 1 or 2 a piece in the series but nothing more! Their D is not that good (Willie Mitchell is their best D-man speaks volumes) and without Luongo this was one of the WORST teams in the NHL. The key is Luongo for if the Hawks can get to him early and often the Hawks could make quick work of the Canucks. The Hawks will win this series and then face….the DEAD WINGS! We all know it will come to that.
LET’S GO HAWKS!!!

by hawks61 on Apr 28, 2009 12:39 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Oh wow. You are way off. Sundin IS ready for game 1. Our D is better than yours. Luongo doesn’t melt down in the playoffs. You should see his stats right now. Better that Bulin’s.

Zero offence? Ask the Blues about that.

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 28, 2009 12:43 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nucks Misconduct LOL!!!

It is a misconduct to be a Nucks fan! The Hawks aren’t losing to a Team Canada back-up in Luongo! A starter like Martin Brodeur maybe but not a back-up!
Wait a second….third-string in Luongo…Cam Ward is far better than Luo and has WON a Cup just like Khabby!!!

by hawks61 on Apr 28, 2009 12:49 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

As for Thing 1 and Thing 2.....

The answer to them will lie with Goon1 (Ben Eager) and Goon 2 (Adam Burish).

Learn from the Calgary series and put the hurt on them.

by Return of the Roar on Apr 28, 2009 10:07 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wrong..

The answer? His name is Sammy Pahlsson..

Just ask the Ducks

by Matthew Dirt on Apr 28, 2009 11:52 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

There’s a good game plan… pretty sure that’s what the Blues had planned too!

Congrats and Good Luck

Well, you’ve bested my team, now give those idiots from Vancouver hell!

Congrats on the series win and good luck in the next round.

I like seeing Iginla look so depressed post game. What a lousy team in Calgary.

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 28, 2009 12:44 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Calgary lousy?

What do you call a team that has never WON a Cup in it’s history and it claim to fame is being on Gretzky’s highlight reels (#1 and 802)! Not to mention that they lost 9 straight at home this season even the Islanders were never THAT BAD!!!
Oh how I could forget “The Rangers win the Stanley Cup may the memories last a lifetime” remember that one? LOL!!!

by hawks61 on Apr 28, 2009 12:54 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

ahem, excuse me sir. When exactly was the hawks last cup? About 10 years before our team was even formed? Wow, way to call us out on that one.

by kesrows on Apr 28, 2009 1:11 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I see who our first victim will be here. This dude is stuck in the past. Probably wasn’t even born before 1994.
“LOL!!!” : There’s the first clue.

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 28, 2009 1:34 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I wouldn't fault the 'Nucks fans in this discussion.

Hopefully they figure it out soon.

NOW STOP IT RIGHT HERE

true

but I gotta stick up for my fellow hawks fan, however misguided he may be

by Geoffhawk on Apr 28, 2009 8:31 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

they made such quick work of the Blues that they’re bored as shit now..

by Matthew Dirt on Apr 28, 2009 9:28 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah, got it figured out. Will try and be more productive.

Congrats Hawks

Great series. looked fast and strong, as expected. Guess we’ll be seeing alot more of each other in the second round. Cheers.

by kesrows on Apr 28, 2009 12:54 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Congrats....Nice win

Looking forward to a great series with you guys

For the overly cocky ones here, keep in mind it took the Hawks 6 games to beat a team with injuries…..an almost COMPLETELY healthy team awaits you at G.M. Place

by dave1205 on Apr 28, 2009 1:08 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

and you keep in mind

that it was the first playoff series for half of the Blackhawks roster. The first round was on the job training for this young team.

Should be a great series. Looking forward to Khabibulin vs Luongo.

2nd round idiots

I`m glad to see that both the Blackhawks and the Canucks have some cocky idiot fans cheering for them… might make the ignorance in the comments sections the most entertaining part of Round 2!

by mr_daveyt on Apr 28, 2009 1:15 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Yup.. the second round is going to be awesome. Enjoy the golfing!

by Matthew Dirt on Apr 28, 2009 1:17 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

We will.
You were the better team this round; no need to rub it in!

by mr_daveyt on Apr 28, 2009 1:19 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Flames put up a hell of a fight – I really think Iginla is one of the best players in the NHL. The victory wouldn’t be as sweet if it wasn’t such a close fight.

by Matthew Dirt on Apr 28, 2009 1:23 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Obviously not as close as we would have liked! But it was a decent battle.

Again, good luck to the ’Hawks in the next round!

Second round will be as exciting as hell Davey. Wish you were here…

by kesrows on Apr 28, 2009 1:18 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Actually I am, and it was very entertaining to watch the Canucks fans appear out of no where when the playoffs started! During the regular season it was a scattered few!

by mr_daveyt on Apr 28, 2009 1:28 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I won’t rub the loss in Flames fans’ faces yet. Too soon.
Mr Daveyt, what are your thoughts on Jokinen?

by Sean Zandberg on Apr 28, 2009 1:35 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

He was an absolute bust this year; Lombo would’ve been better down the stretch. I am willing to give Olli a fresh start next year as he has never played in a situation like this before… but my patience will be short, much like it was with Bertuzzi.
