Pleased To Meet Us
- The main bartender/owner, Maria, is one of the nicest women alive.
- Maria's son and friend of SCH/CI, Sergio, loves the Hawks so the games are put on one of their two HDTVs anytime I'm in there and probably many times that I'm not.
- The walls are covered in pictures of regualrs, so there's pictures of me on the walls of the bar with at least two ex-girlfriends - so a game of "where's matthew and the girls that finally wised up?" can be played during intermissions.
- I was actually able to start a "Detroit Sucks" chant in the bar sometime around the 2nd OT in Game 5 of last year's finals. (yes.. I was drunk but it was the 2nd overtime.. what do you expect?

I am employed, but I have to pay for my own crappy health insurance now
Plus, if I come it means I will have to spend my beer money on gas, so, I expect rounds to be purchased for me.
If I come.
Which is not likely.
I like boobs.
Crap
No. I cannot attend. Forgot I have to work (new schedule FTW), then see my brother’s band, and then possibly (hopefully) go to a gay bar for my sister in-law’s birthday.
I like boobs.
I cannot come
but i demand a photo of everyone there wearing their chinese jerseys for the blog’s baby album
"Oh, that's easy. White Sox. I'm not one of these fair-weather fans. You go to Wrigley Field, you have a beer; beautiful people up there. People aren't watching the game. It's not serious. White Sox, that's baseball. South Side." -O'Bama
If you guys ever find yourselves in Iowa City in the next 5 weeks
you can meet the guy who comments more than anyone here (at least I’m assuming I do; there’s gotta be a way to check, right?)
NOW STOP IT RIGHT HERE
I know we agreed to keep baseball outta here
But the Nick Adenhart accident is too sad and this short narrative (from an SBNation blog) is too good not to link here: http://www.halosheaven.com/2009/4/9/828592/the-loss-of-nick-adenhart
An event like this transcends the specific sport, and so does this post from Rev Halofan.
Just read it.
NOW STOP IT RIGHT HERE
On a related note...
An Angels fan died recently as well after getting in a fight in Angel Stadium.
Fan fights are fun spectacles — I’ll admit — but that’s when they take place in the stands and are broken up (at the same time, most fights are all posturing and nothing more… throw a few punches to show off and get kicked out of the game). A brutal beating in a stairwell is not a fan fight — that’s called a murder. In any case, fighting over a sporting event is stupid, and this story reminds us of that…
Maybe it’s a good reminder with the playoffs coming up, too.
All right, I’ll stop moralizing… just wanted to share those couple stories, as I think they’re relevant topics of conversation for any sport.
NOW STOP IT RIGHT HERE
Actually I'll be unable to make this one either.
I’ve got an all afternoon, and likely, night boozefest at Molly Malones in FP, following that I will pass out on the blue line heading home, and wake up to find the pockets of my jeans cut open with my wallet/cell phones/keys missing.
Perhaps a road game during the playoffs?
Got more soul than a sock with a hole.
Sounds like it will be a riot but...
it is just too expensive for the flight from Denmark. If there is anybody in the neighborhood, stop in for a free Tuborg and if your lucky – a blonde….
I am there in spirit and will be tuned to the game on line….
GO HAWKS
I’d love to because I’ve never heard of this place, and live just down the blue line in Wicker Park, but can’t because I’m going home for Easter later tonight.
Let me know if people are meeting up come Playoff time and I’ll be sure to make it.
