Thanx for the memories

I was at that game and also all the rest of the home games that year. 2nd row first balcony about twenty five seats to Pat Foly’s right. We used to go to Hawkeyes on Taylor Street for the shuttle bus to The Barn. The go back to mingle with the players after the game.
Hell yea, lets do it again. Hard to attend this year because I am in Denmark selling old american cars. Here is a link to my open house last weekend……

haha!

I’ll try to do my best, but I’m going to have to sell my tickets for at least one of the games. As an unemployed person, I need the money.

that's what she said

I was gonna say

send me a message about how much you want. Then I remembered you’re in the 100’s. Too rich for my blood. My friend’s older brother is a doctor. He’d always text me if I wanted to buy their tickets for face value if they weren’t going. That was a huge slap in the face.

You and I are gonna live forever

4, maybe, but 5, not too many, I wouldn't think....

heck, if you’d let me in, I’d love to go down there for game 3….my birthday next Thursday, it’d be a heck of a present to get a shot at buying a ticket for game 3 at a non-exorbitant price….

That's OK

I’ll just console myself with the Stanley Cup DVDs from 97, 98, 02 and 08…

ah, Tim Cheveldae….he was Osgood before Osgood was Osgood, the guy we blamed for the postseason failures in 92 and 93 (frigging leafs…that series still haunts me)

The last minute of that game looked like what the Wings did to the Ducks at the end tonight, forechecked the heck out of ’em and barely let them out of the defensive zone until it was too late.

I thought the worst part was both Roenick AND Chelios skating around in the sacred Hawks uniforms.

Gotta Remember

Management Traded Chelios and didn’t offer Roenick. I can understand the Chelios hate cause he’s spent WAYYYYY to many years in DET to be considered a Hawk. In my mind though Roenick will always be a Blackhawk

by Roos-34 on May 15, 2009 9:29 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed...

…Roenick always has and always will be a Blackhawk! For those who were in Middle School in the early 90’s Roenick was always more popular than Gretzky- and that was in Canada! Everybody wanted to be Roenick when playing road hockey, EVERYBODY! Lucky for me my Grandfather bought me a Roenick jersey as a kid so I could be Roenick when I wanted to, but a lot of times I shared it so I could play goal and be the Eagle.
The 90’s sure brought some great times and great teams but never the ultimate prize but if the Hawks win this series the ultimate prize will be ours!!!

Don't forget

That Chelios had to wave a no trade clause for that trade to go through.

Okay

I knew the former part of my statement wasn’t going to go over that well, but damned if I’ll change my tune. We drafted him, he served us well. He’s been gone longer than he was ever here now but while he was still wearing the uniform I will give him props for publicly slagging a man I hate far worse as a human being, Patrick Roy, back in the ‘96 conference finals. And that’s about the best I can do.

but then he ended up on the wrong end of one of the most famous hockey quotes of all time.

Yep. That’s why I could only muster love for the guy for a coupla days there before Roy gave him the retort.

sweep?

The Hawks swept the Wings in 1992. They also did it in 1970 with all the scores being 4-2. And I used to be 21……………

I can't really understand the Chelios hate...

Born and raised in Chicago – all he wanted to do was walk through gate 3.5 – and then they trade him away to the fucking Redwings. I’d spend the rest of my life sticking my finger in the eye of the fucker who did that to me too.

I still wear my Chelios and Roenick jerseys in silent protest to the 2 worst decisions ever made – decisions that solidifed my hate for the former owner – and led to the dark ages we just came through….

GO HAWKS!

by whw on May 15, 2009 1:05 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

most of it

comes from Chelios saying that he would never resign with DET. If he would have never said that I think more people would give him a pass. Once he resigned obviously he was going to get killed for it. Otherwise I think he would have gotten at least a minimal pass. I mean people still love Steve McMichael and McMahon and they played for the Packers but they were only there briefly. Chelios has now spent more time in a Wings uniform than a Hawks uniform so you have to wonder if he’s going into the HOF as a Wing. He always claims that “Chicago is home” but he doesn’t live there. He lives in DET and then Malibu in the off-season. JR gets a pass because he never played for a rival. Had he signed with the Blues or Wings it would be a much different story. No one really cares that he played for the Sharks and Philly and the Phoenix Bankrupts.

by Crease Monkey on May 15, 2009 6:49 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

oh also

the fact that Chelios grew up in Chicago going to Hawks games plays a monumental role in that as well. JR is from the Boston area…doesn’t have the same ties to the team.

Wow

The best part I suppose is that the content of that vid is ancient history and we are a better team for it.
