Salo out for tomorrow's game; Demitra Questionable

According to head coach Vigneault, Sami Salo is out for tomorrow's game, which as we've said is a huge loss for the Nucks.

Salo has been paired with Canucks shut-down man Willie Mitchell for the series so far and has been a nice compliment to his style.  Salo leads all blue liners for the Nucks in the playoffs with 2 points including two goal against the Hawks so far.

If you listened to the Kurtenblogger's show that we were on all the way thru you'd have heard that Canucks fans also consider Salo their best all-around defensement.  He's averaging 17 minutes per game and good time on the kill but is at the top for D-Men on the power play, mostly due to his huge shot and good abillity to read when to jump into play.

I'm not sure who'll they'll have to replace Salo but it could mean more time for someone like Shane O'Brien who saw his numbers jump more than the other Nucks D (15:21 on Saturday, 12:18 average).  Keep an eye out for who he's replaced by because they aren't going to be nearly as good - this is a big loss for the Canucks.

Also hurting is Blackhawks killer Pavol Demitra:

Demitra is a good player, but he's great against the Blackhawks.  In 47 games against the Hawks he's scoring 1.13 points per game.  He's got one goal so far in this series.  He had the fourth most points in the regular season but hasn't scoring quite as much in the playoffs.  Another big loss if he can't play tomorrow.

It reminded me

wait what?

Haha, me too

I didn’t even know that Weird Al’s “Gump” was a parody.

Yea my bad

I didn’t realize that I mixed up the titles and artists, something about vodka on a Monday night….

Ummmm

Aren’t all Weird Al’s songs a parody? He doesn’t do originals

That's not true. "I'm fat"

tore up the clubs in the late 80’s, and after debuting a truly hilarious video on MTV, in which he’s a fat gangmember, the song raced up the charts as well.

Truly a once in a generation talent.

Wasn't that a Parody

of “Bad” Michael Jackson? Wearing a Red or Black Leather jacket(i forget) common theme for Gangs of the 80’s? Like i said I’m almost 100% positive he only does parodies

Great news indeed

and I watched CBC tonight where Captain Incredible put an end to the shoulder injury rumors by asking reporters if they wanted proof (after chuckling about where the rumor started) and then clearly lifting both his arms above his head. Or it may have been a simple offer of locker room juice to keep ’em at bay. Man am I looking forward to this one. Stay focussed boyeez!

The Chicago Sports Fan in me is setting in,

and despite the fact our 5 on 5 play in Vancouver was brilliant, and they lost Salo, and Toews is fine, there’s this creeping feeling that because everything is seeming to be going our way right now, maybe that’s a bad thing. Which wouldn’t make sense if not for the fact that anytime you really believe something special might happen, the rug gets pulled out from under you (Your Historic 2005 Chicago White Sox not withstanding)

Salo may be gone, but Vancouver is still very capable of playing much tighter D, and Luongo is capable of giving much fewer rebounds. But let’s hope the energy in the UC tomorrow means we come out like Game 5 of last series and not the first two. No more spotting leads due to first period stupidity. We’re playing with fire there.

Got more soul than a sock with a hole.
