EA's NHL10 features Kane, Towes, Blackhawks with The CUP?!?

Electronic Arts has finally begun releasing more information about next year's installment in their NHL series, simply known as NHL10.  The trailer and leaked images seems to feature more than a few Blackhawks.

Star-divide

At the recent E3 Expo in California, a full video trailer was displayed

which can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTZez2bUnVo

While each year comes with new features and refinements, what caught my eye this year was the opening and closing shots featuring Towes, including him lifting the cup.  Does someone on EA's NHL team have a thing for the Hawks?  It seems likely, the longest shot before Jonathan Towes holding the cup is a random Canuck with the cup, and the game is made in Vancouver (ouch thats gotta suck for them right ;P)    The other interesting thing is that most people  think Kaner will be the coverboy for NHL10.  High quality images have been released with Hat Trick on the cover.

Also in previews in magazines I spotted this, which clearly features Kane, and a nice dig on Vancouver's Burrows

And a nice dig about the Chi/Van line brawl from March:

In my mind this marks the official turn around of the Hawks.  If EA putting is Kane on the cover means they are banking on him to be pretty well known by both hockey fans, and casual video game players.  Not since Jermey Roenick made Wayne Gretzky's head bleed in Swingers has Hawks players been as big a part of an NHL game.  Plus they got a shot of him for the cover with the mouth guard in the accurate position....bonus!

Once it comes out

You should organize a “second city hockey” NHL10 online tourney. Winner gets their face in the Committed Indian.

perfect plan for the offseason

it’d be fun to play games to fill the time before preseason starts, and in between jesus’s twitter updates.

09 was outstanding

glad they finally added the battles along the boards, makes the hockey a bit more authentic

"...but the devil lives inside this kid, I swear it. It rises out of him in a mist, this baby-faced defiant wrathful version of Pat Kane, escapes his bodily confines to perform satanic miracles all over the offensive zone. The only thing more fearsome than that assist was the keep-in preceding it. The only thing more unholy than his face is his black magic." GMH

That video is clearly inaccurate

Toews is along the boards and doesn’t win the puck.

Anyone on here...

play ’09 club play? If so, for what club?

NHL 09 / 10

Yeah I love 09 and have been following the nhl10 development. I thought this would be of interest for the SSC crowd.

I play on a club, with a bunch of canadians, but my 360 just red ringed and i gotta send it in for repair, which totally sucks.

But 09 was probably the best most faithful sports game I’ve ever played and besides the glitch goals, the most fun as well. We’ve come a long way from Blades of Steel, although I think the fighting in Blades was superior to 09. Hopefully 10 fixes it.

Also, I’ve found in online play, that weight doesnt effect your players speed, only height does, so making your players 5"7’ and 275lbs is a big advantage, because you can use a 102 flex with full power.

I’ve been playing 09 since it came out. But I’ve only played one or two games online. Mostly I stick to the BAP. My dude’s in his…5th? year, and he’s an 88 overall already. :P

VERSTEEG!

I'm too fumble-fingered to play any system other than the original NES

but this game does look cool, and the Kaner cover art is sweet.

That ball hit deep! Way back! You can put it on the boooaaaard...YES!

Long drive into deep right center field! This ball is OUTTA HEEERRRREE!

In NHL09 you can choose to play with the NHL 94 controls.

Directional pad, and 1 button to pass and 1 button to shoot.

Whats your gamertag?

Mine (and my 3 brothers) are Chi Cubs 23. I like to think I’m pretty good. I’m usually either the Hawks or the Flames.

Damn

I’ll do the same, but for PS3. Ranked 305 in the world on versus mode and on the 17th ranked club in the game. I know, I’m a nerd.

Unless you were being

Facetious, the unknown Canuck is Luongo. I can’t wait for this game to come out. If Littman can come even CLOSE to the guarantee of no “always goals” I’ll take the week off when this game comes out for the EASHL. I read a tip on your EASHL player being short and heavy not taking away from speed….any other tips? I need all the help I can get…..because I WON’T glitch to win

Tanking by accident?

you're right

I just left it unlabled since there is no number or jersey lettering form the angle shown. But on another viewing, yeah all the cup raises were team captains and the ’nuck is wearing heavy pads, good catch.

wait, unless you were talking about the canuck in the pic fighting Eager…..which would be pretty LOL if it was Lu. still probably fights better than burrows.
