I Suspect We'll Hear More Of These
A friend of the blog and Indian John Bloome passed along a story to me today. He's a season ticket holder in 329, and apparently there are new concessions stands or something being built there, and his seats are being removed. He was offered lesser seats for the same price, or the wonderful opportunity of canceling his tickets. He thinks they're doing the same thing on the opposite side of the arena as well. What do people know about this? I fear the day when we will all be replaced by suits and corporate schmucks is closer than I thought.

I'm in
Section 329, row 12. I’ve heard nothing about my seats going bye-bye. What row was your buddy in?
First Post
I actually read this site every day, but never post… Rows 4-7 are impacted by this change.
hopefully that’s where they’re building the rotisserie for BBQing Tommy Hawk.
HOCKEENIGHT.COM...home of FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS and LEAVE IT TO BETTMAN...now with PODCASTING!!!
Unfortunately the Hawks are a business first and a hockey team second. I have no idea how bad their financials were in the lean years, so I don’t know how necessary all of this would be to help make up for it if that were the case. But for the most part I’m in favor of anything they can do that will make them money without affecting my enjoyment of the game. This, however, doesn’t fall under that category.
we’ve been in 329, rows 4-5 (2-and-2) and we got the phone call last week, tho we heard the rumors of this for months. They are gonna build some sort of walk-up open bar area for people to stand and watch the game. Sounds like it affects rows 4-8 or so, but not the rows above that area in 329.
We were given the option of moving either to 3rd row or 5th row in the sections next to 329, depending on aisle pref, so we chose to stick next to the aisle like before. So not much of a difference. My concern is how far up in this “open” area can people stand…will standing people affect the views of the 329 seats above this area, or the fans in the sections next to this area that are trying to look over. We shall see.
My deal was not as sweet
You are in seats 1 + 2 right? I am 9&10 in row 4, I was only offered 328, middle of row, row 6 – which is actually a completely different perspective from where I was (further away and behind the net as opposed to the corner), my complaint is that I was only given the option for lesser seats – and I share your concern about standing fans and traffic to the open bar. Kills me because I went on my own from a shared plan at the start of last year and slipped on the senority pole in the process. I guess these things happen – talk about bad luck for us, I am requesting to move up to the cheaper seats in whatever section I can get closest to row 8 – I cannot justify the price jump for two stinking rows. I get the feeling we may be luckier than those in row 3 + 8 though.
All is well in the end
After getting ahold of someone a bit further up the Hawks org chart, they were able to provide me with seats of comparable value. In the end, the Hawks organization stepped up and provided good service. I feel much better about their commitment to their long time fans.
