The Daily Herald's venerable Tim Sassone is reporting that the Hawks appear to be offering Havlat a one year deal, due to the need to pay Keith, Kane, and Toews after next year.

However, Havlat's agent, Allan Walsh, is refuting those claims via Twitter

Sassone also tosses a bit of rumor chum into the water as well, involving Kaberle, and a potentially huge ("jumbo", some would say) problem for the Hawks within the division.

Things are going to get interesting this evening, people.

Thanks to Let'sGoHawks for the heads-up.

Have to wonder

how much the BJs would have to give up to get a guy like Thornton.

I’d really rather not find out.

Hard to believe Havlat would take a one year deal

Also, starting to get concerned that we are approaching July 1st and theres nothing out there about the statuses of Bolland, Barker, Versteeg, etc.

Lets Go Hawks!

Kaberle

in case anyone was wondering, Kaberle is set to make $4.25 million each year for two more seasons.

by Crease Monkey on Jun 26, 2009 3:27 PM CDT reply actions

He's also set to be old

Give me Beauchemin or give me death.

by McClure on Jun 26, 2009 3:50 PM CDT up reply actions

not much difference

Kaberle 31
Campbell 30
Beauchemin 29

Beauche made $1.65 million last season so I’d figure he’s in line for around $3-4 million per season? I guess it’s probably pretty close.

Campbell $7.14
Seabrook $3.5
Barker $3-ish (if not dealt)
Keith $1.5 (+ needs extension after the season)
Hjammer – $643K
Kaberle/Bouche $4-ish

so if Keith gets extended for $3.5-4m per season after this year that’s going to be around $20m tied up into the D core (if Barker is gone) which I guess is probably ok considering the Scum have about $22 million tied up into theirs…of course they’re only paying their G $1.4m which enables them to afford a similar G + FatassFranzen for the cost of what we’re paying Huey.

Havlat's Twitter:
Everyone should know that I am only thinking about signing with Chicago. It’s where I want to be.

if

he liked us that much he’d take a 1 year deal at around $5m per season to pay us back for the 1.5 of the 3 years he didn’t us:)
