Today in Blackhawks History

This day, 25 years ago, the Chicago Blackhawks did something that forever changed the course of the organization and forever changed all our lives. They drafted this bright eyed happy young man:

With the third overall pick in the 1984 entry draft - the Blackhawks were proud to take hometown boy Ed Olczyk who evidently had Thing from the Addams Family as an agent if the first picture is to be believed.

Also, some guy named Mario was taken with the number 1 pick.

Could you imagine the course of the Blackhawks if they were just a little bit worse the year before. They’d have ended up with that guy named Mario.

Who knew ...

that Chapstick Eddie – hometown boy, self-proclaimed Blackhawk fan – would SUCK & BLOW the Scum; De-Toilet; Dead Wings (take your pick!) ad nauseum throughout the Conference Finals!! Though I did hear a few ‘bones’ thrown to the Pens in the Finals – somewhat tongue in cheek as he would also qualify it with the comment that the Scum are an older team battling alot of injuries! SHUT IT!

Eddie is NOT a part of some sort of media conspiracy to praise the Red Wings at any given juncture. Besides, there’d be no room for him to be blowing Red Wings – Pierre McGuire has that market cornered.

I just found it interesting how Chapstick was able to turn on the ‘Scum Love’ whenever he was doing an NBC or Versus game. Different story when he was doing local with Pat. It was VERY apparent during the Winter Classic – but I just chalked it up to the other ‘talking heads’ telling him to back off a little and not look like a total ‘Homer’ – I was willing to give him the benefit of a doubt. No longer. I was very disappointed the way he and ‘Bust-A-Nut Emrick’ called the games. You are correct .. Pierre McGuire is the epitome of a ‘Dick-In-A-Suit’ Suck-Hole that can only spew Scum love.
