Martin Havlat Is Not Happy
Puck Daddy has a piece up about this already but Havlat seems juuuuuussstt a bit upset about how his whole contract worked out.
From his twitter (man that still sounds so lame):
Excited to be in Minny where I was welcomed and appreciated by management. The real story about what happened in Chicago to come out.
and then:
There's something to be said for loyalty and honor.
Umm.. eep. Looks like the Blackhawks may have some extra PR work to do.
h/t to Runninquicklynowhere and heyrocky..

my response to this in the “Prince” thread, but this is a business. Havlat’s going to be fine. He’s getting a hell of a paycheck from the Wild, and considering his history of injuries, he should be grateful he got a chance with the Hawks last season to put up what is probably his carrer year, which has translated into a big payday from Min.
I'm sure Minny will be happy
since havlat will probably play more games than Broadway Gaborik

I loved watching JHC this year
He did incredible things with the puck and created some awesome highlights. Still, I saw risk in signing him for big money on a long contract. Panda is a risk too as he may or may not fit into what the Hawks have going, only time will tell. Still, if you have to choose between Panda and JHC for near the same money, I have to say I’d take Panda. That Havlet did not sign as quickly with anyone today makes me think he was looked at and passed over by other teams. Now that he’s pissed, he’s probably likely to have another bang up year just to give everyone the finger for letting him go. I’m very sad to see him go (panda face sad actually) but for now, I’m thinking Tallon made the better deal. I’m not sure Havlet is worth that kinda coin to the Hawks. A contract year with his history of injuries is not something you can ignore.
He seemed more than willing to take a lesser deal to stay in Chicago.
I wonder what went wrong.

Havlat's agent speaks on Twitter:
Havlat received multi year offers from several teams…except Chicago. After 3 months of negotiating a long term contract, Chicago would not offer anything more than a 1 year deal. So much for taking care of the team MVP.
Interesting…
VERSTEEG!
i lost some respect for havlat
don’t get me wrong he will always be a great player, but man, it’s a business, not some summer camp. hawks are committed to getting their best now, before the big 3’s contract hikes next year.
HA
I think that might be one of my old roommates! Or at least a reasonable facsimile of most of them.

the only thing missing from the pic is the 84oz Mountain Dew, the second computer running right next to it so the dude can get his character from Warcraft or one of those role playing games powered up, and of course the shrieking mother’s voice in the background asking whether he wants meatloaf or pot roast.

The meatloaf! We want it now! The meatloaf! What is she doing? I never know what she is doing back there. Ma! The meatloaf! Fuck!
It is great,
but did you notice the "ultra-fuckin-modern high tech dot matrix pin drive printer he has there? All that and a pack of Menthol’s to boot?
Uber-Nerd has arrived in style! You’ve come a long way, Nerdy
