Is this Dale Tallon's contract year?

Just playing devil's advocate here, but:

Here's a question I wasn't sure I wanted answered, but when is Dale's contract with the Blackhawks up? Reason I ask is I vaguely remember something in the message boards about how this is his last contract year with us, and since rumblings in the front office are that he's not going to get renewed, he's more likely to act for short-term interests (like big free agent signings) than long-term (uh, cap management 101?) because he'll be "playing for a contract year" too.

I do have to wonder if this affects the way the Blackhawks acted yesterday. Plus, if he's not coming back, he'll be leaving the next GM (Stan Bowman?) a real shitty job of managing the cap hits for the next season.

unsure on the contract year but....

Stan Bowman is a pretty integral part of these moves. I’m pretty sure if he thought Tallon was screwing him over as the future GM, he’d go crying to daddy. Little Bowman and Big Bowman have a plan I’m sure………..back to the dark knight references from yesterday…….“It’s all part of the plan”

Tallon is on his last legs with the Blackhawks...unfortunately so

I’m convinced that John McDonough doesn’t like the guy and that Stan Bowman is being groomed to take over as GM.

$136 million payroll for a .500 style ballclub. Good work Jim.

That would be sad

I am always in favor of players in a GM’s spot because they know, man. It’s a huge world of difference between those that have played and those that have not. I look at the picks that Tallon has made and the free agents he has signed and I can’t help but think that those were moves only a player would make. I am in the minority here but I think he’s made some great decisions for the franchise that have paid off immediately and will continue to pay off in the future.
