How long till his number is retired?
I see the dollar signs in McDonough’s eyes now. Give Sharp a new number, which sells more Sharp jerseys. Start selling Amonte jerseys. Take a game against a bottom dweller in the West and make it a $Premium$ game.

Tony Amonte
Where do I begin?
One of my favourite Hawks of all-time Amonte is pure class on and off the ice. Tony, unfortunately, was here to be a part of some of the worst Hawks teams ever yet he seemed to score 40 goals every year and that’s why I will always admire him. Amonte never complained about the situation of being a Hawks at that time and never trashed the organization in any way (even when he had the right to after leaving in the summer of 2002). His flashy style, tremendous dekes, effortless flow in which he skated Tony Amonte was and always will be one of, if not my favourite Chicago Blackhawk.
Had the opportunity to meet Tony Amonte at the convention (at Kitty O’Shea’s no less) and what a classy guy and extremely fun to talk to (eventhough I was slightly nervous).
Congratulations Tony on being inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall-Of-Fame, eventhough you did score the GWG in Game 3 of the 1996 World Cup and the opening goal of the Gold Medal Game of the 2002 Olympics, but you’ll always be one of my heroes and thank-you for all the memories.
Amore Amonte Forever!!!
It's never about the eventual destination, but rather the long journey and its challenging obstacles that are presented and what it takes to overcome them, that makes the taste of success all the more worthwhile!!!
My favorite Amonte play, which I am too lazy to look up on YouTube, is when he goes one on one with a Red Wing and has his stick tied up. With no way around the defender, he lifts the stick over the defender’s head and puts it in. Ah, memories.

I remember that one.
We ran into him a few times at restaurants after Hawks games back in the day. He was always very gracious to everyone, as were just about all Hawk players, except for Zhamnov.
Got more soul than a sock with a hole.
Ah, memories...
I was 14 that year and playing high school hockey in the south suburbs. That YouTube clip has all the names from the most significant period in my personal Hawks history: Roenick, Murphy, Nicholls, Suter, Sutter, Chelios before he defected and was still a Carmel kid. Congratulations to Tony, even though he didn’t have his perfect mullet when he scored those four!
