If this is true
And all those guys walk due to becoming UFA’s, Tallon is OUT. That kind of shit is inexcusable.
wow
that’s terrible. how could this happen???? we are so screwed if that article will turn out to be true…………..
Dale Tallon might be gone within a day or two
As stated elsewhere I have been convinced for some time that John McDonough does not like Tallon and that Stan Bowman is methodically being groomed for the GM job. This potentially devasting blunder will be the end of Tallon. Which is really a dirty rotten shame.
$136 million payroll for a .500 style ballclub. Good work Jim.
The comments on the TSN website
are just comical. One comment says “Just a bunch of no namers” and another says all these players can be easily replaced.
"The Hawks need a lube job on their offense right now."-Pat Foley
Guess they aren't really big spenders.
Courrier fees could really put a hamper on the money they have to offer in salaries, I guess.
If I can't be a good example, I'll just be a horrible warning

It appears the Chicago Blackhawks’ restricted free agents aren’t worried about their contract status, a source close to the situation told TFP.
On Friday night, TSN reported that the NHL and the NHLPA are investigating whether the Blackhawks properly filed qualifying offers to their RFAs.
According to the report, Chicago RFA players failed to receive the necessary notification of the offers.
Kris Versteeg, Cam Barker, Ben Eager, Colin Fraser, Aaron Johnson and Troy Brouwer are among the players mentioned.
However, TFP has learned that the paperwork was properly filed with both the NHL and the Player’s Association, even if the player’s agents did not immediate receive the qualifying offers.
According to one source, the Blackhawks’ restricted free agents were contacted about the situation and knew their qualifying offers were submitted to the league and the NHLPA, and do not anticipate any potential issues concerning their status with the team.
“In fact, they’re excited about [getting a new deal done and] hitting the ice next season,” the source said.
VERSTEEG!
And the plot thickens.
(havlats agent, and apparently johnsons agent as well.)
walsha: Client Aaron Johnson is one of the “Chicago Five” that did not directly receive proper notice of his qualifying offer per CBA procedures.
walsha: As of today, Johnson has not received QO and neither has our office.
VERSTEEG!
This guy seems like he’s trying to be the Boras of the NHL. Claiming the greatness of his players and the injustice brought against them in public in an effort to swing some more cash and publicity.

Here's some words
from Josh Mora’s blog.
Some interesting tidbits:
One player even informed me that all the guys had talked about the situation, and that they all said they would re-sign with the Hawks anyway because they are so excited about what the team has done so far in free agency.
I was also informed by a separate source closer to the league that while clerical errors such as this are not common, they do happen more than occasionally. So clearly, because this looks worse to the general public than to those more familiar with league operations, someone is trying to embarrass Dale Tallon by letting this leak out.
Aaaaand that’ll be the last time I ever say tidbits.

I now propose that Original Six’s new nickname is “tidbits”

prospects camp
Basically its monday-friday, mostly in the morning (schedule) at Johnny’s Ice House. I’ll most likely be there either Thursday or Friday as those are the easiest days for me to get out of work.

Anybody can go?
That is going to be sweet. I’ll be there Thursday I hope.

tidbits...
sounds a litle dirty, as in, “She was so drunk, she started showing everybody her tidbits…”
It is a great word for naughtiness. And it’s a word that always sounds a little drunk.

It sounded pretty stupid last night…yet I still said it.
Definitely not as good of an idea as setting my alarm so I could wake up just in time for the hot dog eating contest on the worldwide leader.

Well, if it turns out to be true the “good” thing is they’ll be signed pretty quickly. That saves us from a year of this:
“Barker and Versteeg to Toronto for Tlusty and a 2010 Second. Chicago can throw in Skille if Burke isn’t satisfied with the offer.”
“Barker, Versteeg and two firsts for Kaberle + prospect. Chicago can throw in Skille if Burke isn’t satisfied with the offer.” etc etc.

nothing...
is going to come from this, because Bettman will fix it. We’re a young team on it’s way to a cup from a large, important market who just signed the marquee FA of the offseason…The Hawks bring/have the power to bring causal fans to the game. This maes us a money machine for the NHL. Betts doesn’t let bad thongs happen to his money machines…hahahaha
PS. I say this in a kinda tongue-in-cheek way
You needen't say it so
You’re right in all of your points. Right now, we are the second largest TV share in the nation; more Chicagoans watch TV than Angelinos or any Southern market. We have talent on this team and a potentially huge audience, only smaller than NYC. We may just become the Next Penguins in Bettman’s eyes. That is, if he can ever get over staring at Cindy’s pretty, big cow eyes.

agreed
the most that would likely happen is an organizational $fine$….so Bettman and cronies will have more scratch to prop up the Coyotes.
