Can we move on now please? Kanes Plead Guilty to a Non-Criminal Charge

Finally, this story seems to have died.  Earlier today, Patrick Kane and his cousin both pleaded (pled?) guilty to disorderly conduct and learned their fate - pay $125 each in court fees (and those courts better have exact change goddammit!) along with a written apology to the Cabbie(autograph!).  Of course it is a conditional discharge - meaning both the Kanes will have to stay out of trouble for a year so hopefully the courts don't look down upon double minors for high sticking because otherwise Kane is fucked.

I'm sure there are going to be those saying Kane got off easy due to his celebrity status - which could be valid.  But it seems there's still plenty we don't know about how this all goes down.  Plus according to Buffalo News, Chief City Judge Thomas P. Amodeo said he would have imposed the same sentence on anyone else with no priors.  If he wanted to though, he could have put the Kanes in jail for 15 days and fined them $250.

Kane only had the standard "vow to put this behind me" line to give and didn't answer any questions from reporters - so I guess we sent McClure out there for nothing..  damn.

Maybe he can become President of the Phase!

Hopefully he doesn’t hand out faulty tip calculators.

Only $125 in court fees?!

Shit, I was charged $60 in court costs for a damn seatbelt ticket, and I didn’t even get to smack a cabbie!

This is it!

The turnaround is officially in effect. Look to near-future media reports about Hossa’s non-injury and Huet’s fine early season debut. What a joke. It seems of late that I prefer to obtain my “news” from the public domain where, while not always the breaking story, at least people will call bullshit when appropriate.

$105?

Did anybody else hear about the story that the Kanes gave the cabbie a $100 bill instead of a $10 and that’s what he didn’t have change for? I’m really surprised nobody else heard of that, it was a breif thing on WGN radio a few weeks ago I think. I believe that to be the reason the cabbie’s lawyer tried to squash the hype right after it became public.

Being jipped of $90 and being locked in a cab would piss me off too…

Glad this bullplop is over too.

Detroit sucks.

$100 bill ya'll?

Now that seems more closer to the truth than anything I’ve either read or heard. Doesn’t condone what possibly happened later but that would definitely start the fire. Based upon of what we know about the cab driver this seems more possible. Eventually the true will squeak through.

Over and done with?

I hope so, but I hardly doubt it. The first game we play either Detroit, Buffalo, St.Louis, Columbus, etc. I’m sure they will have one idiot that will continue to bring this up and I’m 100% sure that it will be brought up all season on TSN.ca for that is the mentality over there.
For Kane’s sake that this was a valuable learning lesson that he is no longer just another kid in Buffalo and is a celebrity and the next time he ventures throughout the city he better make sure someone from his family picks him up or take a limo, whatever just don’t leave it to chance once again.
In the end this may be a blessing in disguise for Hawks fans for maybe due to this embarrassment Kane may come out firing to start the season and may keep him focused throughout the year and into the playoffs. And maybe, just maybe, he’ll concentrate on his defensive aspects of the game and his overall responsibilities within his own zone but that might be stretching it a little.
Overall in my mind it’s over and done with and I couldn’t have picked a better title “Can we move on now please?”

Cabbie pile-on

Not a hint here of any prejudice. As someone who’s been drunk once before, I doubt Kane was completely innocent.

Yes, the story’s over. Huzzah! But let’s not try to play blame the victim.

One guy got hit by two guys. That’s only fair in Bridgeport.

I'm happy, obviously, to put a pin in this one

But, let this be said:

a written apology to the Cabbie

What are they? Twelve? I’ve seen guidance counselors handing out stiffer sentences.

Whatever. Water under the bridge.

WAIT FOR THE WHISTLE!
