Kane arrested in Buffalo
allegedly, he and a relative assaulted a cabdriver and refused to pay a fare. he was arrested on felony charges. interesting. i never pegged patrick kane as this sort of dude. who knows what the real story is behind this but if it's true, it almost certainly is a result of alcohol. come on patrick. be smarter than that. i know he's young but he didn't strike me as stupid.

An NHL star robbing a cab driver over 20 cents. It can’t get more embarrassing than this…
Don’t forget Kane is only 20 years old.
Bucky's 5th Quarter. SB Nation's Wisconsin Badgers community.
I'm going to re-rack this a prior thread
The report alleges that both Patrick and James Kane took a cab from Chippewa to a home in the City and were charged $13.80. The cab driver claims they gave him $15 to pay the fare but he only had $1 and did not have another 20 cents to give back in change. According to the report, both Kanes grabbed the $15 then punched the cab driver in the face and head.
Yo. Patrick. You pull down a multi-millon dollar salary. LEAVE A FUCKING TIP.

Maybe
It was PK’s dipshit cousin who assulted him. That would make alot of sense.

Party to a crime
If Patrick participated in any way in this nonsense, he’s cooked, insofar as the law goes.
Now: it doesn’t seem like there was anything in the report suggesting that he was telling his cousin to CHILL THE FUCK OUT. That may come out later. But if they both participated, even if James was doing 95% of the dumbfuckery, then Patrick’s on the hook.

Strange story
Obviously there is more this. An NHL salaried player is not going to go to jail over twenty cents. I hope.

Too bad alcohol would only add to the conflict since he's 20.
This is an idiotic problem that a professional has no business being in.

20 cents is a punch to the face???
McD must be shitting himself.
Reading the whole story makes it seem worse. Stiffing a cabbie, then punching him, taking the money, and leaving.
Praise Him!!
This makes no sense
Alcohol or not. I doesn’t make sense to kick someone’s ass over pocket change.
by Hawks82 on Aug 9, 2009 12:08 PM CDT via mobile reply actions
Not only the fact that its 20 cents,
but also that he had a press conference yesterday afternoon announcing funding that he will be providing to build a new rink near his home.

Fuck me...
…this is just what the organ-I-zation needed right now, eh? The cab driver was an old dude, too…hopefully this is bullshit
This is easily
The worst offseason in the history of the sport. I’m afraid to ask how this could possibly get any worse.
yep
Hossa ends up being out the entire season, Toews tests positive for taking the spike on Heroin, and/or Huet breaks his ankle on holiday in Spain while trance dancing at some eurotrash party being held by Paul Oakenfeld/DJ Tiesto rendering a netminding duo of Niemi/Crawford. Take your pick…

Brilliant!

Thanks for the laugh, priceless!
This is an unbelievable story
Young or not, this makes Kane look like nothing but a punk-too bad he can’t bring that level of physicality to actual games.
I’ve always thought he was overrated-now it looks like he might have chrarcter issues too. If it turns out that this story is true, I’d love to see the Hawks launch him and focus all of their resources on locking up Toews and Keith long term.
Easy, now.
Dude would probably plead out to probation. He’ll probably get suspended for a few games, or more. [Whatever he gets falls on his head, and not on Colin Campbell et al.] And the Olympic Team nod probably moves from Lock to Probable on account of this. (Remember the Nagano fiasco? Knucklehead stuff like this was present there, if memory serves.) But I don’t think this is an ejector seat error on his part.
But this is not good. Not good at all.

Character issues?
Give me a break. An isolated incident in which Kane may or may not have thrown any punches hardly constitutes any character issues.
Don’t turn SCH into BCB with that bullshit nonsense.
by Hawks82 on Aug 9, 2009 1:15 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions
Agreed
Character issues? No. Kuncklehead? On what we know so far, that is a distinct possibility.
There’s more to come on this. Maybe James was the true jackass here, with Patrick saying “oh come on, let’s given him a couple of extra bucks and get out of here.”
But as we have it now — NHL star with dough, cab, twenty cents short on change, punch-up, both charged.

And who knows what stupid things the cabbie (or 20cent and his cousin) might have said during the altercation that made the situation worse..
by runningquicklynowhere on Aug 9, 2009 3:02 PM CDT up reply actions
That's right. Maybe the cabbie had it coming. Give me a break.
Okay, so maybe I DID jump the gun a little bit-what bugs me IF this story is true is that I’ve always tended to hold hockey players in higher esteem than other pro athletes. A story like this just REALLY depresses me.
Depressed??
Why? You can’t tell me that you seriously care what Patrick Kane does when he’s not on the ice, can you?
I only know Patrick Kane the hockey player, in a roundabout way, and what he does on his own time is none of my business. Their personal lives are none of my concern. Your’s either.
That shit is irrelevant to why people follow sports. I hear Cub fans spout that nonsense all the time. Let that shit go. Winning is all that matters, the “off the field” shit doesn’t.
This isn’t going to stop Pat Kane from being a great hockey player, and it’s not going to stop the Hawks from winning. That’s all that should matter to anyone.
keep in mind that
In Charles Barkley’s world, a young man with character issues is often tagged “a knucklehead”, and if Sir Charles says it, I’m on board.

New York State Penal Law 160.10
A person is guilty of robbery in the second degree when he forcibly steals property and when:
1. He is aided by another person actually present; or
2. In the course of the commission of the crime or of immediate flight therefrom, he or another participant in the crime (a) Causes physical injury to any person who is not a participant in the crime; or (b) Displays what appears to be a pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun, machine gun or other firearm; or
3. The property consists of a motor vehicle, as defined in [some ofher section].
Robbery in the second degree is a class C felony. (Under N.Y. Penal Law 60.12: Class C Felony = “at least four and one-half years and must not exceed fifteen years.”)
And there’s assault and criminal mischief and the rest of it. So your answer is: “a long fucking time for twenty fucking cents.”

Yeah, Jim Gaffigan was a no-doubter, but I wasn't sure if that was Dr. Melfi (I don't know her real name, nor do I care. "James Gandolfini" is only a character in my mind as well.)
