Blackhawks Make First Round of Roster Cuts
Today the Blackhawks announced the first few cuts to the training camp rosters, dropping 9 players. Matt Keith, Maxime Tanguay, Joe Charlebois, Jean-Claude Sawyer and Joe Palmer were all assigned to the IceHogs while Byron Froese, David Gilbert and Teigan Zahn were all sent back to juniors.
These cuts are pretty heavy on the non-roster invitees. None of the players cut so far are surprising at all though, we don't even have profile pages for them yet.
So lets bring back the big board and break out the "strikethrough":

I expect we'll see him stricken soon
Heard he’s a dicipline case. We don’t need a thug like that playing professional hockey.
don't think they do anymore
if he was a non-roster invitee

Off topic, but--
RIP Fred Cusick. Growing up with Dad, watching the Bruins games on TV38, is where I started to love hockey. And Fred was a significant part of that.

Tim Sassone's Assessment
Most of us that comment here seem to have a good deal of respect for Sassone’s hockey knowledge. His blog “Between the Circles” has a post today regarding the first 3 days of camp. VERY encouraging! (“Patrick Kane looks stronger and quicker on the ice.”)
How long till opening night?
P.S. Anyone know if the whole Comcast/DirecTV/VS. channel thing is going to be worked out? Any news or comments from the NHL?
i wasn't joking when i said he looked like he put on some
muscle in his mugshot.
Its encouraging that Tim has noticed a difference on the ice, at least at this incredibly early juncture.
Got more soul than a sock with a hole.
Makarov?
Anybody know why, exactly, he’s not at camp? Am I even right in saying that? I remember last season he was one of the shining lights in training camp, and there was even talk he could be ready for a roster spot. Any news at all?
I haven’t heard why exactly he’s not at training camp. I’m sure we’ll see him in Vancouver though and probably next year he can get another shot at the team.

You think he’ll be in Vancouver? Now I’m really perplexed. If he can crack that line-up, you’d think there’d be more talk of him replacing Hossa’s minutes than Beach/Skille/Aliu. If those three are long shots, then he’s at least less of a long shot if he’s that ready. I wonder if it’s a KHL contract thing. Pinko bastards. Heh. I kid.
