What Is With The *$&^#)*% Light Show?

Someone who's been at the games will have to confirm this for me, but from watching the game against Washington and the highlights from last night, are is United Center going to some sort of dumbass spotlight light show after goals?  What kind of happy horseshit is this?  And they're not even doing it well.  Did this go on last year and I just wasn't paying attention?  Because I'm pretty sure it didn't.  I think if I'm watching the play, I can figure out who scored, I don't need him highlighted like I was taking notes or something...

yes they're spotlighting

because on the 1st game Sharp had a near goal denied and the spotlight went on him while the play was going on. I don’t remember this last year. I’m pretty sure there are other teams that do this as well.

Praise Him!!

Are you kidding me?

I know a lot of teams do it now (fucking Toronto started this kind of sherade) for entertainment reasons but c’mon…this is hockey not the WWE so for the love of the game hopefully Chicago quits this act quickly-the sooner the better!

For the record the only “light show” I’ve ever thought was cool after a goal was the flashing PLUS sign at the Aud in Buffalo after the Sabres scored back in the early 90’s, other than that they’ve all sucked.

It's never about the eventual destination, but rather the long journey and its challenging obstacles that are presented and what it takes to overcome them, that makes the taste of success all the more worthwhile!!!

It is happening

It started in the playoffs if you didn’t notice then. Those were with real people up in the cat walks. Now they’ve incorporated the lights under the scoreboard. Meh. They can use em… Give me the goal horn and I’m happy.

Ugh

A thousand times no. If this blog has any influence whatsoever this would be a good time to use it.

...

With the Hawks return to relevance lot of half ass fans have come out of the woodwork….the type who don’t even know what is going on or how to watch the game. I think this idiocy is to benefit these, McDollars favorite type, of fan.

Yes they do have the spotlights after goals now

They didn’t have it during the regular season last year but it started during the playoffs. Also they pretty much start that chelseas dagger song even during the goal horn now, which is bullshit. Let the goal horn finish then go onto the light show and song, idiot McDonough

Lets Go Hawks!

Well now...

It’s not only the preseason for the players…its preseason for the spot light crew :p

Just say no.

Not only is it stupid, it’s inaccurate. The light shines on whoever the monkey running the spot thinks scored the goal. So when Klinkhammer deflected in the game winner against the Wild, he was high-fiving the bench while the light was on Seabs.

the spotlight is on players in old time hockey pictures after they score a goal. bring back the little hawks head and take the advertisements off the board.

Two things

I watched game 6 against Vancouver today and it looked like the light was going on in that series. I am not 100% sure about this but it looked that way.

Second, when does Mora’s contract end? Because I am watching Sportsnight right now and he is hosting? Did they eventually get him a contract or something?

by DudeMcnude on Sep 28, 2009 12:17 AM CDT reply actions

The spotlight started for game 1 of round 1 on the playoffs.

Mora’s contract ends in December. He’s been pulled off the Hawks beat in the meantime.
