Your Labor Day Free-For-All
I'm going to take a page from Gametime -- and why not, I rip them off in The Indian all the time anyway -- and just open a thread here for whatever you want. We've been lax about posting the past couple weeks, and we apologize, but August is kind of Death Valley hockey-wise. So, we're going to rest up this weekend, a holiday weekend, and so should you, and starting Tuesday the Triangle Of Lunacy that is this blog will crank up full time. In the meantime, use this thread to talk about whatever you want, nothing's out of bounds and all that.
Oh, and Josh Mora's answers will be popping up soon, and we'll put that up as soon as we have them. Poor guy has to cover the Sox and Cubs at the moment.

Any Rumors on Personnel?
Just wondering if there was anything floating around about getting that other defenseman Tallon mentioned a while back, or any more to the rumors about Sharp going to Vancouver (or whatever team it was) in a trade. And what about the prospects? Obviously we need to see training camp, but do y’all think we’re pretty well set with our opening night lineup or will there be some movement? (And then who does Hossa bump when he comes back?)
Just making conversation, waiting for the season to START ALREADY!!!!

Whatever happened with the Hossa contract deal?
Seems that Luongo’s contract is similar no?
It’s almost time. The kids leagues started, soon the NHL will start. Summer is mercifully almost over.
When will the Buff, Sharp, or Versteeg trade happen? Maybe we are going with what we have?

Speaking of football season...
Anyone going to the Chicago Bliss game tonight at the Sears centre?
And if so, did you tell your wife/girlfriend where you are actually going?
Haha I talked to my brother about going, but we got tickets to the white sox vs red sox game tonight (we’re both big red sox fans).

Sadly, there are injuries throughout the team
If you notice in this series of roster photographs, each and every player has an ankle injury, as evidenced by the tape jobs on their legs.
The season hasn’t even started yet and everybody is hurt! Oh, the humanity.
Oops...
sorry, here is the link:

Other News: The Jackets have signed Brassard to a 4-year extension
Terms of the deal: 4 years/ $13 million. That’s a lot of dough for a player that recorded 10 goals, 15 assists for 25 points in 31 GP. With that said though, he definitely looked promising last season before his shoulder injury in December (ending his season) especially alongside Rick Nash.
How’s this for Food for thought? Arguably two of the biggest goats of last season’s playoffs Hossa and Luongo both get 12 -year contracts at the ages of 30 and 31, in contrast two of the biggest heroes of last year’s postseason Havlat and Scuderi both get told by their current clubs on July 1st that their respective services would be better off served elsewhere. Thought playoff performances were supposed to matter? Things that make you hmmm.

Bob Marley
wouldn’t go into the studio without his foosball table already in place, regardless of where in the world the studio was. Apparently nobody could beat him.
"Call Detroit, tell dem... BULLSHIT!"
I would have whooped Marleys ass in the late eighties!
There’s a phrase I didn’t think I would ever type.

Will this be the season
we in the NW suburbs get together to watch a game?
I need a new jersey though.
If I can't be a good example, I'll just be a horrible warning
J.R. being J.R.
Gotta love him though. Once again our dear friend Jeremy Roenick has lashed out at the NHLPA and it’s board members calling the way the proceedings of NHLPA’s Executive Director’s firing “Chicken Shit” in an interview on Leafs Lunch on AM 640 with Darren Dreger and Bill Waters, were he would also add “…the education of those players are going to be very low, I would say most of them have high-shool educations not college educations and not to put athlete’s down but they’re not the brightest bulbs in the box. So um…with that being said they really are influenced by the smarter people, the lawyers, by the people who have gone to college who seem to be the guys who wear the suits and ties- the smart people. That’s who the hockey players look at and they put they’re faith in and sometimes they shouldn’t do that. Our PA continues to make a mockery of itself!”
Nice to know that even in retirement J.R. is still up to the task when called upon to provide a colourful quote. Telling it like it is-J.R. style.
