Oh Dear God No....
You may have caught this today on ESPN.com. If Stan's first move as GM was to bring Heatley here, I'm pretty sure this blog would catch on fire. You already have the poor man's version of Heatley, that's Patrick Sharp, and the rich man's version, Marian Hossa. And both of those players actually have a passing interest in what goes on in their own end. Plus, it's another monster contract that doesn't end until well after I'll be dead, so this really makes no sense. And of course, there's the small problem that all signs point to Dany Heatley being a major Deutch Bank. Unless...
We discussed a fantasy trade of Patrick Marleau, and he's been mentioned as the main cog in any deal the Sharks make for Heatley. Is Stan trying to turn this into a three-team deal to land the Hawks Patty? Cuz that works from my end....
Anyway, tomorrow we'll start our season preview here, and we'll unveil our method for that madness then.

I remember reading some Heatley rumors from about a month ago that described a swap of the major contracts of Heatley and Campbell. Although we already seem a little weak on the backside, I wouldn’t be completely opposed to this trade, just because Healtey’s money goes down every couple years and his contract is also 2 years shorter than Campbell’s. I also would have no problem with a move that gets us Marleau obviously, but I highly doubt either of happening.
People who start rumors like Heatley/Campbell
are irresponsible and don’t take into account things like the players’ feelings.
In all seriousness, a trade for Marleau would make sense for the Hawks, if only because they’d clear a nice chunk of cap space after this season. Of course, Doug Wilson would have to have his head examined to trade his former Captain to a team that may be duking it out with the Sharks for the top seed in the West.
That being said, the one that might make the most sense for the Hawks (and Thrashers) would be a bundle of young players for Kovalchuk, if Atlanta figures they aren’t going to sign him.

The only way I could take this
Is if it resulted in Marleau heading here. We can’t afford Heatley while resigning Toews, Kane, and Duncan. I’m wondering what The Sens would be looking for in return…I bet it’s Seabrook.
Hawks Golf, not on subject
Anyone else go to the Hawk page and look at the pics from the golf outing? Stan and Savvy look so small that you would think they could never compete in the market today. I am sure they would find a way, they both deserve there spots in the hall. Amazing how much the game has changed. Lets start things up and see what we have in the net.

I got to meet Makita. Real nice guy, very accomodating to fans.

Of all possible trades/moves, I’d much rather have a big responsible defenseman brought in so that Johnson, Hendry, and Sopel can fight it out for 7th spot instead of 6th.
Considering what we’d have to lose to get Heatley, nope, I’m not taking it. No way, never. Last thing we need is Heatley driving other Hawks to work. Yes, that’s in bad taste, I know, I can’t help it.
Know what's even scarier...
…is that Heatley and Emery would take turns here in Ottawa driving the two plus Spezza to practices and home games. Talk about buckle your seatbelts on the (hwy.) 417.
It's never about the eventual destination, but rather the long journey and its challenging obstacles that are presented and what it takes to overcome them, that makes the taste of success all the more worthwhile!!!
Marleau, yes - Heatley, no
There’s my vote. Speaking of votes and bidding wars, looks like Balsillie has fattened that big carrot he keeps dangling in the face of Glendale. He’s raised the offer a further $30 million to a total of $242.5 mil. Fresh story in this morning’s Globe & Mail. Check it;
"Call Detroit, tell dem... BULLSHIT!"
Heatley to the Hawks? Now that's funny!
I find the details of a Heatley trade to Chicago a little sketchy considering there is nothing on TSN.ca or Sportsnet.ca so there may be little truth to this rumour. In fact after reading about this rumour I quickly turned it on the Team 1200 here in Ottawa and they are mentioning nothing about Chicago as a likely suitor for Heatley’s services. It does appear that San Jose is “upping the anti” with the possibility of Vlasic along with Marleau coming to Ottawa in exchange for Heatley and Karlsson (Ottawa’s 1st round pick in 2008) but nothing has been reported as a ‘Done Deal’ but in all likelihood it could be done soon.
As for Campbell going for Heatley? the Sens want to replace Heatley with a goal-scorer that can also play two-ways so this scenario seems highly unlikely, however though a trade for Campbell to Ottawa would not be out of the question for there is some interst here in Ottawa for a QB D-man for the PP especially if Campoli and/or Karlsson cannot do the job. The Senators would have no problem eating up that contract if their PP once again becomes enemic and would be willing to offer up Volchenkov, who plays a similar style to Kronwall and (I believe) has one year remaining on his current contract. So a trade like this would work for both teams and serve both teams needs.
