Few short thoughts....
First post! Allll riiiight! First thought I've had on my mind since the Versteeg fight. What the hell is with the NBC announcers saying that Eaves showed alot of heart by standing in against Versteeg. I almost never miss a Hawks game and I have NEVER seen VERSTEEG! get in a fight. Has he been taking boxing lessons that everyone but the NBC announcers (not Eddie O) don't know about? That was a bit confusing and didn't make a whole lot of sense.
Second point; I hate Ross McKeon of Yahoo! sports. I sent him a few e-mails last season in response to his power rankings because week after week he would rank the Hawks behind teams that we either beat and/or dominated (ex. Calgary, Vancouver, New Jersey, Philly, etc.) I just didn't understand what he was basing his rankings on. Now he writes the 'beat the dead horse' article today about the Hawks goaltending. In my opinion, theres about 7 goalies out there that any team in the league would love to have. Those are your top tier goalies. Then your have your second tier, which I believe Huet resides. They are all pretty much the same in the 2nd tier, it really just depends on the team playing in front of most of these guys that determines how they will be viewed. So unless we were going to get one of the top tier guys (Brodeur, Kipper, Luongo, etc.) which is not going to happen, then I dont think people need to freak out about the goaltending situation as much as they are. Do you really think that bringing Turco here is the answer!? I don't. Huet will be good enough to win the Cup, as long as the guys in front of them do their job the way they are supposed to, and Huet does not give up the softies that he sometimes does.
Thirdly, I'm gonna sound like a small band groupie, but now that the Hawks are freakin awesome again, everybody in Chicago and outside Chicago wants to talk about them like they know everything about the team. Not to say I know everything, but I'd like to believe I know everything a good fan should know and then some. I was driving home last night listening to 670 The Score and I'm not sure who the radio host was during the 6 o'clock hr. (some younger guy it sounded like) and he was talking about the Hawks little photo situation from Vancouver. He started talking about the leaders on the team, especially Toews as Captain. He said alot of good things about him that are probably true. But then he started talking about how he was kind of disappointed that John Madden was involved. He said that someone wearing an 'A' on their jersey as an alternate captain should of had better judgement and yadda yadda yadda. I didn't even listen to anything else the guy said after that because we all know, Madden is NOT an alternate captain on this team. I quickly changed the station and called in and told the producer, and I quote, "Tell your genius host that John Madden is not an alternate captain". Then I hung up. Yes, I did feel good about it. All I'm asking is that if you want to go that deep into detail about the Hawks or any topic for that matter, know your damn facts jackass!
Lets Go Hawks!

You're right
People are generally stupid and don’t know what they’re talking about. But that’s a general truth about most all sportscasters and writers, and it’s not limited to sports.
But off of my soap box, maybe the announcer from 670 is so smart, he remembered that John Madden was named an alternate captain after Toews was injured earlier in the season. Doubtful, but worth a shot.
False advertisement.
Short thoughts these are not.

Agreed...
…I have some long thoughts about this misleading title.
On point 3, maybe that ring on his finger is more problematic than the presence of an A on his jersey (which as you point out he doesn’t have.)
Steeg
I believe Versteeg fought Kyle Turris last season, well, jumped him i should say. That led to Gretzky vowing revenge on the Hawks. Didn’t work out well for da Yotes.
The past is for cowards and fools....
It may not count
but Versteeg went right at Willie mitchell after he flattened Toews.
Sucker! Competitive violence, that's why you're here!
