Niemi in, Madden and Eager Out For Saturday
According to the official Blackhawks blog, Antti Niemi is going to get his first ever third straight start for the Blackhawks against Atlanta tomorrow.
Also mentioned in the post, Madden will likely sit out the game with a "lower-body injury". Madden hasn't quite looked like himself lately and this injury could be the reason... no word on whether or not it was his wife who caused the injury.

Bummer...
won’t get to see the man crush aka iron madden at saturdays game. Hopefully the olympic break will give him some time to rest.
Just watch the Hawks shut-out the Kovalchuk-less Thrashers
and there be an EXPLOSION of never-play-Huet-Niemi-will-lead-us-to-a-Cup like comments/articles/clueless rants, etc. I can hardly wait. Not saying I wouldn’t want a shut-out, but most of these mopes will look at ‘0’ and ‘Niemi’ in the boxscore, and proclaim the aforementioned season-changing advice to the heavens.

No worries
With a game on Sunday against the offenseless Islanders, I think we’ll bounce right back on the Huet bandwagon.

Yep, it's Blue Jackets
Isles game isn’t for a while.
Blue Jackets have shut out the Sabres (admittedly they’re in a slump) AND the Sharks this week. WTF? I hope they defeat the Canucks tonight, then go back to being terrible on Sunday.

I wouldn't seelp on Atlanta
Since the trade they’ve played better hockey. Mind you, they still suck, but according to a Thrasher fan I know, they actually look like they care now. This could be similar to the Canes game.
Chicagoan in the Lou.
Similar to the Canes game
except with at least 15,000 more people.

name one person
who’s insinuated that Niemi is THE guy to take us to the cup?
and congrats to Niemi. Hopefully he’ll do a stand-up job, followed up by a stand up job from Huet.

Hey, I took my eyes off Twitter for a few moments and saw the news here first!
No more “Fuck you, Barker!” on broadcasts…
Wow, I know nothing about those MIN players…

Just wanted to add
that Johnsson is a UFA after this season so the Hawks have basically cleared 3 mil of cap space for next year and acquired needed help for the defense.
Competitive violence, that's why you're here!
Thought I read
here or elsewhere that Madden took a puck /hit to the lower leg?

Don't know about anyone else...
But I’m excited that Niemi’s getting the 3rd straight start. It’ll be interesting seeing how well he plays. Q is definitely giving him a chance to grab the number one spot though.
Shouldn’t come as a surprise since we are playing back-to-backs this weekend. Niemi was bound to get one of the starts. I think by letting Niemi get this start instead of Sunday, Q can let each goalie play a few games in a row instead of going back and forth and cycling between the two.
A few in a row?
Maybe for Niemi, but even if Huet plays Sunday, it’s the last game before the break, so unless he’s going to Rockford he won’t be playing for a couple weeks

i am too
I feel he’s been inconsistent when playing two in a row. How is he with 3 straight starts? We’ll find out.
keep in mind it's only happened twice

Atlanta is going to be tough
Then again all teams in the NHL are tough these days except Edmonton maybe.
Nice to see Niemi getting another start as he’s definitely earned it, but it Huet is still the #1 then why is he getting almost a one-month layoff? Very strange indeed.

I think from some recent comments he's dropped...
…the stache may be leaning ever so slightly toward Niemi right now. But, both guys will get plenty of action after the break. Unless somebody (but not both) either go apeshit or down the toilet, playoff time will be split too. Q will have no more compunction about changing goalies from game-to-game or within a game than he does fiddling with lines.
And I’m OK with that, because goaltending is overrated anyway.
one word comes to mind when I hear the word "overrated"
Kane.
Why is he still on the Hawks? Gawd.
