Not disgruntled just pondering

What has happened to the hawks?  I used to turn on the game and smile and just wait to see how many goals the hawks could rack up.  Now I turn it on and usually by the end of the game have used up every expletive I've come upon and possibly made up some of my own!  Its easy to blame Huet...as Niemi has been doing so good.  As of late the D has been off.  The stupid cute passes getting turned over in the hawk zone needs to stop!  The Hawks need to just get back to playing hockey.

4am in the morning

is seldom a good time for decision making.

Well, folks, I want to thank you for being here for the recording of my live comedy album. Funny material and laughter will be dubbed in later.

mjthor, a poster who is so superior

Shouldn’t a comment who’s so good inside have a matching exterior?
And since folks here to an obscured degree
Seem fixated on your non-verdigris
Would it be alright by you
If I greenify you?

That comment has shades of Bob LeDonne.

All right, come on, dummy, you won the game. Come on. Pick up your trophy.

Well, it is green and doesn't make a lick of sense.

So yeah.

I mostly agree with your point...

…but you know, I wrote a non-disgruntled fanpost, and I don’t seem to recall you commenting there.
random question: seriously, is the only way to get rec’d around here to write something complaining about other people’s comments (or articles or radio shows)? (or to be Bob LeDonne?) sheesh, it’s not like I spent 2-3 hours sorting through photos and putting that fanpost together…it may not have had original thoughts, but it did have original photos.

…yes, I’m grumpy and I crave attention, this has been well-established everywhere else I am on the internet and now I’ve brought that attitude over here…

my personal standard for rec-ing

1. Is it useful?
2. Is it clever?
3. Is it funny?
4. Am I hoping to get it green so other people can read it?

Those four standards don’t all have to be met, but they must all be accompanied by #5: Do I feel like it?

I understand mjthor was involved in a shit show a few days back and is now maybe something of a Debbie Downer (Thorny Thor? Mopey Mjthor? Eh-ish Edzo?) but he does have a point— there have been more shitty posts than not, and I did find the manner with which he expressed that opinion somewhat amusing.

I’ve found 90% of the rec’ed comments/posts funny/useful, and maybe I just haven’t noticed that a lot of them have been complain-y. No one’s ever going to rec a full-blown rant unless it’s warranted, I guess, or echoes the sentiment of everyone else…. but generally speaking people turn green what people want seen.

I can go back and comment on it if you'd like, but it'll be contrived and lame.

And it's not so much the fact that most of this trash is disgruntled...

It’s more due to the fact that the majority of new Fanposts are asinine and repetitive.

Your post was actually original, and—now that I looked at it—quite rec-worthy.

I for one was very impressed

with the effort that went into your fanpost KofC. Shit, you could’ve just wrote “I went to a crapload of games in the past year and the Hawks won a lot.” But the fact that you had photos to prove it (and just the fact that you took photos of the scoreboard after every game) was very cool. I don’t normally notice the actual articles or fanposts being rec’d, just the comments in them, if that’s what you’re talking about. But yeah, I would rec it based on the effort that went into it and the rarity of the feat.

The funny/sad thing with Buttfudge’s (oh, what’s in a name) post is that he or she was certainly referring to the title of your fanpost and then obviously never fucking read it! Now that’s just bad journalism.

So let's go rec KofC's Fanpost so that it may be preserved above the trash beneath it.

well actually I tried, but apparently I’m naive on how to do that.

Disgruntled

If not being able to smile while watching the hawks and using every expletive you’ve come upon isn’t disgruntled, then what is?

"In an ideal world I would have all 10 fingers on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching."

by hackerar on Feb 9, 2010 12:34 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

smile

I understand knocking off the hawks seems to have become an accomplishment for all teams. Even you, what seems like 3 regulars, must admit to some lethargic play by some players. If you watch all the games, you can tell who seemed to have fallen off their game…you don’t have to rub their balls just cause you like them you know?

by Buttfudge on Feb 9, 2010 1:15 PM CST via mobile reply actions   0 recs

Liking them has nothing to do with it

I’d rub their balls for good seats.

we're not here to rub their balls

But we don’t expect each night to be perfect either.

I used to turn on the game and smile and just wait to see how many goals the hawks could rack up. Now I turn it on and usually by the end of the game have used up every expletive I’ve come upon and possibly made up some of my own!

We know they’re in a “slump” inasmuch as a 3-game losing streak is a slump, but it comes with the ebb and flow of an 82-game season. That’s what’s happened to the Hawks.

I understand

why you wouldn’t want to add a restriction like that, but I agree it was probably time. I imagine the traffic here has increased tenfold in the last month or so, and thus there are a few more turds in the punchbowl.

I’ve found it remarkable though, that there are not more boneheaded fanposts/comments than there have been. With this being an unrestricted venue that anyone can join and participate in, the vast majority of things people come up with are thoughtful and intelligent.

Hola

Wow

I’m so impressed by the grand authority to try and alienate people from the forum….I’ve been reading the post game write-ups at second city for awhile now. I think its generally pretty funny. I didn’t realize the forum itself was full of whining pussys! I guess this forum isn’t for me as I’m not 40yrs old, drinking crap beer and trying to get a handy behind a Bennigans.

Sigh……………gh…..gh….hh….h….
bye

relax guy..

I’m not trying to alienate anyone. Where does the crap beer and the bennigans comment come from though? That’s just fucking bizarre. We drink damn good beer and hand jobs are boring

This certainly isn't the worst fanpost that we've seen.....

but it should be a comment and not it’s own fanpost. There is a certain level of effort that should go into a fanpost, and for the record, this blog isn’t ‘generally’ funny, it’s just funny.

it's just the straw that broke the camel's back

sure, you were reading write-ups, but you might have also noticed a spate of fanposts written by folks who just really wanted a place to rant. More often than not, these are topics that have already been beaten to death and nobody wants to hear them anymore, especially since the posts have just been disruptive.

Sucks that it had to be your post that triggered it, but that’s what happens. I’d say don’t take it personally, but it looks like you already did.
