I come bearing gifts..err...well really just a fun way to play along at home

Long time fan of SCH and decided to get on here officially. I enjoy being able to come to a place that cut's the BS along with most of the drama and breaks the game down logically. Thanks for having me. In return i'd like to share with you a game  my friends and I have been doing for the past few games.

Star-divide

I have yet to think of a creative name for it but someone feel free to offer up some suggestions.

Basic Idea: Each person creates a 2 player team consisting of any two players (except goaltenders) playing the night of the game. Players can be from either team if you so choose and you can also allow the selection of duplicate players, but not entire teams. At the end of the game, the person with the highest points earned by their team, wins. It's almost like a pick to click times 2. For a tie breaker, the total +/- of your team will go against other tied teams. So far, we haven't had to break it down any further then that so feel free to create your own 2nd tie breaker rule.

Really long and drawn out example for those that don't get it:

Person 1 picks = Toews, Hossa

Person 2 picks = Kane, Sharp

Person 3 picks = Kane, Toews

Point total at end of game: Toews = 2   Kane=1    Sharp=1     Hossa=1

Person 1 gets= 2+1=3

Person 2 gets= 1+1=2

Person 3 gets= 1+2= 3

Person 1 and Person 3 go to +/- Tie breaker.

Total +/- = Toews= +3  Kane= 0 Hossa=+2

Person 1 total +/-= +5

Person 3 total +/-=  +3

Person 1 is the winner. Person 3 is 2nd place and person 2 is 3rd.

The game has been a fun add on to an already exciting game. It started by having some extra crap around the house that I ended up giving away to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place team. Obviously, the more people the better.

And lastly to prove I can poke fun at myself please vote in the pole below.

I feel

This game could be improved by copious amounts of booze. Not really sure how to fit it in quite yet but I’m sure we can think of something.

right

The original version sounds like fun; I’m going to try it. But, if you wanted to make it a drinking game too, you could do things like:
- Your player has a shot on goal = everyone else drinks
- Your player gets hit = you drink
- Your player gets a penalty = you drink ( x times per min. in box)
…and so on. Add or subtract rules to adjust desired sobriety/intoxication level.

I voted "MEEEEE! MEEE!" because there wasn't a "tl;dr" option.

But just because I'm too lazy to read it doesn't mean that it's not a good idea.

I just don’t know whether or not it is yet.

I’m trying to be positive here.

This has all kinds of possibilities

but needs to have more guaranteed drinking in it. I see drinking involved for anything from your player stepping on the ice to winning/losing a fight and everything in between.

Oh, and everyone chugs whenever Edzo says “stop it right here!” Would any of us last to the end of the game?

Wowie Wee Wahhh

I knew we forgot something when we came up with it. Yea this game needs drinking in it. Glad I brought it to the experts!

But God, imagine an Edzo drinking game consisting of “stop it right here”, “all you young hockey players”, “active sticks” and of course everyone has to do a shot when he says “EEEEEmediatly”

You could...

just take an EdzoBingo board and drink whenever you get something. Now, just gotta figure out what to do when you get bingo…

pick someone to chug a pitcher.
Alternatively, bingo winner gets to take Sarah K/Burish home for a night, depending on current orientation.

"Um, It was my understanding that there would be no math..."

I tend to enjoy the game better when I don’t need to use my calculator

2+1 = Brain cramp

Well, folks, I want to thank you for being here for the recording of my live comedy album. Funny material and laughter will be dubbed in later.

but if alcohol is added and I don't have to count, just drink

then I’m all for another reason to do so.

And maybe every time Buff comes on the ice it’s “all play” and everyone bows to the hookah…
