Hawks make minor goaltending trade...set up for a bigger one?
Added a second Finnish goalie, Hannu Toivonen, sent him to Rockford, plus the long-awaited return of Danny Richmond. Could this mean the trade rumors involving Crawford have legs?

Not saying you are wrong...
but how does this give the crawford trade any more feasibility than before. We swapped a goalie for a goalie (plus dman). If we had traded a Dman or a forward for a goalie, then I’d see how this could open the door for Crawford’s exit. We didn’t add depth at the goaltender position.
"In an ideal world I would have all 10 fingers on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching."
Because Toivonen has more of a pedigree...
…than the guy we dealt away. Why deal the Crawford’s backup for a guy with more NHL time than Crawford, if you don’t plan on using him…

Any deal could now only be for Vokoun
With Turco basically finishing up the year with the Stars after the Auld waiver, news today from Long Island is that DiPietro is out indefinitely with knee swelling pretty much quashes any hope of picking up Roloson as well. No way the Isles carry Rick D and a Huet deal at the same time.
There really aren’t any more goalies out there on teams with cap room to deal with us other than Florida.

Our competition for Vokoun
Is likely Washington – they just sent Varlamov to the minors
Philly – Emery now on IR, with Leighton as their #1
Of those two teams and us, who can offer the most to Florida?
And would we grab Vokoun just make sure that the Capitals do not get him?

Vokoun is going to happen
Versteeg, Huet, Crawford and a pick. Way too much smoke at this point. Stan Bowman IS going to swing a deal for a goalie, and that goalie is going to be Vokoun. I dont’ see the screaming need for an upgrade at goaltender, but then again that is why I don’t draw an NHL front office salary either. No question that Vokoun has the pedigree and talent to be a Stanley Cup goalie. So if he comes to Chicago, I’ll be happy.
The Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup in 2010.
I am convinced
that BLou thinks a trade for Vocoun will happen. I’m not sure what I think about it, but there is no doubt that BLou has this opinion.
All right, come on, dummy, you won the game. Come on. Pick up your trophy.
