Thoughts from a lurker: Goalies, Comments, and Gibberish
Just a quick disclaimer. I've been a hawks fan all of my life. I used to be able to see them when I was a kid. But due to a lot of reasons, it became impossible to continue to afford tickets to the games during their lean years. Which was, pretty much, the majority of my life. And since they weren't on television, I didn't really see much of them, nor was able to really "support" them during the dark ages. I also want to say that I've always enjoyed reading SCH and have spent a lot of time these past two years since the Hawks have been back on TV.
But something really started to irk me during the live blogging of the trade deadline. First of all, someone posted the Red Eye article about the bandwagon fans. I think what bothered me there was everyone complaining about fans that yell, "SHOOT!" Well, I'm a very vocal fan. I'm yelling at the athletes no matter what the sport. And, for example, against Islanders when Hossa was 5 feet from the net and couldn't decide to pass or shoot (and ended up whiffing), I was screaming "SHOOT THE PUCK!" at the TV. Like Edzo says, it's never a bad idea to direct the puck towards the net." And when I see the Hawks dancing for 2 shifts in the opponent's end like the Harlem Globetrotters (which is a good thing) and not get a shot off, yeah, I'm a lil' annoyed. I don't see how that is any different from the people on here that complain about the lack of Versteeg(!) dumping the puck, or Byflugien being constipated on the ice. Or posting pictures of clown shoes.
On to the goalies. It is a very polarizing issue, I get that. I don't like Huet. I think he is overpaid for what he brings to the team. And Niemi has the ability to be good, I think, but not yet. The goalie situation is quite possibly the weakest link of the Blackhawks, right behind the sloppy defensive play of late. People want the weakest link to be shored up a bit. I don't understand the backlash against people complaining about the goalies. I get that it is an old subject, and people have been bitching about Huet all season, and that it can be tiring to continue hearing about it, but it is a valid concern. If our defense is off, our goalies can't seem to pick up the slack. Will that be fatal in a cup run? Maybe. Maybe not. Nobody knows the answer. Even Josh Mora said he was concerned in the podcast. Reading the comments about the goalie situation is like being in a room with PS3 owners facing off against 360 owners. Seriously, you're both right and both sides have a fair amount of cognitive dissonance goin on there...So the personal attacks and idiocy on both sides has led me to stop reading the comments on this site, which I used to enjoy.
And a quick aside, I've seen a couple times where comments have talked about the psyche of the players and their body language and whatnot. I have a Master's in psychology and am working on my Ph.D. To listen to people in the comments say that Huet giving in soft goals doesn't impact the thought process and the feeling of the players on the ice is sheer...well...naiveté. The Hawks DOMINATED that first period against the Oilers. Got up one goal. And then it came crashing down. Someone said in the game thread "Is it too much to ask to see the hawks play angry for a period." Well, it took a while but they finally did. Other nights they haven't. If you paid attention you could see the Hawks struggling to regain that anger and drive. Eventually they did, thanks in part to Eager, Toews, and yes, even Kopecky.
I could go on for a while on this, but the simple fact is that is that you cannot say that the stress level of the defense is not extremely high. Almost every time they make a mistake, one of the goalies let's in a goal. That pressure could very easily lead to more mistakes. So the goalie situation is a very real problem. I don't think there is any question there. If only for the fact that we pay nearly $6 million for an average goalie. The question, though, is: "How big of a problem is it?" Only time will tell.
So I guess what I've been trying to say is that I used to enjoy reading the comments on this blog. And getting different people's perspectives regarding things like the goalie situation. I enjoy having my positions challenged and being forced to examine other's perspectives. But with the amount of vitriol in the comments lately has become overwhelming whenever the goalies are brought up. Both sides are right. It is a problem, but it also isn't. It is as much as a problem as the cap space. It is a problem, just not yet. Will the goalies be the Hawk's downfall? Time will tell. Snapping at people that complain about the goalies is a bit hypocritical when you are quick to point out the downfalls of every other player on the ice, like Steeger, Kopecky, and Seabs.
I have to echo the thoughts of the other fanposts. As I write this the Hawks are now first in the division. First in the conference. Second in the entire league. They have a +54 goal differential, second only to the Capitals. Their PP% is 7th. Their PK is 6th. They average the most shots per game in the entire NHL. They still have the fewest shots against. Both our goalies have a Sv% above .90 and a GAA below 2.5. As much as I don't like Huet and think Niemi needs experience, we've won 42 out of 63 games.
The Hawks can seemingly dominate every statistical category (save goaltending) most nights. Toews is a monster. Kane's face lights up after an assist. It is a fun team to watch. It is an aggravating team to watch. They are not a perfect team; they have flaws. And if you want to bitch about one thing, don't snap at people that bitch about another. Because in the end, it's all just bitching about a team that just keeps on winning. Even when they do play like shit.
I apologize for the ramblings, but I just needed to vent after getting so annoyed at the comments these past couple of days.

On the goalies
Now that the deadline is passed, a lot of the goaltending “controversy” is simply moot. It was irritating to hear the smattering of boos last night as Huey was introduced and then the loud chorus after the 2nd goal. For better or worse, this is the guy for this playoff push and everyone needs to get behind him. Booing the guy that needs to up his game the most and could benefit the most from a confidence boost is not helping.
My hope is with the deadline pressure now off, Huet and even Niemi can revert back to that November-December form they had.
My goal? World domination.
My point though
Is that complaining about the goalies, especially now that the deadline is over, is no different than complaining about Seabs, Steeg, Buff, or Kopecky.
We’re stuck with them all. Nobody on the team is every perfect. And at some point during a game someone complains about just about everyone, except Hjammer and Toews maybe.
The boos are annoying, yes. Those need to stop. These are our goalies. But lashing about against people that state their very legitimate concerns in the comments is hypocritical.

Thank You
for a generally reasonable post on a touchy topic, and for conducting the conversation in a tone not calculated to provoke.
I disagree (as I always do) with the recent commonplace about defensive lapses. Yes, the D has fallen off a bit, but there are probably 25 or 30 goalies out there who would have appreciated playing behind the Hawks D over the past month.
“SHOOT!” is annoying as an endless refrain. You yourself point out that the Hawks lead the league in SOG, which kinda undercuts the “shoot more” argument.
If you want goalie talk
you should visit the Hawks message board on their site, if you haven’t already. There is a 194 page thread on Huet (20 comments/page), and it is far more vitriolic. It’s the main reason I started coming to this site a few months ago, as things here are no where near as migraine-inducing.
For me, the topic is polarizing and frustrating. There is nothing new or different to add to the conversation so I guess in my mind, what is the point in rehashing the same stuff all the damn time? What is there to debate? Bitching about a defensive mistake or Steeg refusing to dump the puck doesn’t usually result in bloodshed like the goalie bitching does.
I couldn’t tell from your post if you’ve been to the UC lately, but if you have and don’t find the constant “SHOOOOOT” to be annoying and just plain ignorant, you are a better person than I am.
Haven't bene there since November
Well, the hawks board does put things into perspective…
Constant? Maybe I misunderstood the references/article. I haven’t been to the UC since November-ish. Was able to afford to go to 10 games so far this season. I re-read the article and I must have missed it, but there was a reference to yelling “shoot” whenever someone touches the puck. So I take that back.
When I do watch on TV, I get tired of hearing “Centering pass just out of the reach of (Insert name here)” because the Hawks are too busy trying to be pretty and play like I do when I’m playing NHL 10 and I slip a pass across the ice between 2 defender’s legs and make the goalie go side to side and miss the puck.
Again though, bitching about the goalies shouldn’t result in the amount of bloodshed that it does. And I don’t understand why it does. I guess I do since everyone can bitch about Kopecky, but only half the people want to bitch about Huet, while 25% defend him and 25% want people to shut up.
But some people like to bitch. It’s easy to bitch about the goalies. It’s also just as easy to ignore the people instead of starting a 20-comment long thread going back and forth calling each other names.
by doubleohpsycho on Mar 4, 2010 3:25 PM CST up reply actions
Well...
I think the bitching about “SHOOOT!!!” is in reference primarily to the meatheads that are yelling it the second the Hawks are set up in the offensive zone. I had season tickets during the leanest of the lean years (good timing, eh?) and I can tell you, hearing the other ten dopes in my secion yelling like that was bad enough; the fact that the Hawks are actually good now makes it that much worse.
The hawks board can be a dark and scary place. There are some great fans there, but here is much much better. I don’t leave this site with an elevated blood pressure (unless it’s from laughing). So I guess it really is a matter of perspective.
I haven’t seen many of the threads you’re referring to here, especially with the threat of McClure’ prolapsed asshole hanging over our heads. Or maybe the threat that he would share the details of it. Anyway, there’s not much to argue about now. Someone is going to take the reins (or have them thrown at him), and all we can do is support him, whoever he is. the Hawks find ways to win and I don’t think that mindset will change in the playoffs.
To me, the Kopecky complaints have become more of a joke than anything. And they build camaraderie so that’s nice. Remember, the grass may be greener elsewhere, but it could also be browner. Or covered in snow.
Oh Katherine
That phrase of words “hanging over our heads,” was that really necessary?
If that’s stuck in my head all day, I shall hold you personally responsible and you will have to buy me a drink.

McClure's "prolapsed asshole" reminds me...
…of the only thing I have ever come across that I literally could not finish reading.
The story is “Guts” from the novel “Haunted” by Chuck Palahniuk (“Flight Club” et al.)
Not for the squemish. No joke. From Wikipedia:
While on his 2003 tour to promote his novel Diary, Palahniuk read “Guts” to his audiences. It was reported that over 35 people fainted while listening to the readings. On his tour to promote Stranger Than Fiction: True Stories in the summer of 2004, he read the story to audiences again, bringing the total amount of fainters up to 53, and later up to 60, while on tour to promote the softcover edition of Diary. The last fainting occurred on May 28, 2007, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, where five people fainted, one of which occurred when a man was trying to leave the auditorium, which resulting in him falling and hitting his head on the door. Palahniuk is apparently not bothered by these incidents, which have not stopped fans from reading “Guts” or his other works.
Interestingly, most fainters were from the weaker sex- male.

You mean that you didn't come to this site because the posters are so kewl?
Months ago, when the goalie bitching really got out of hand, it was a completely different situation than mentioning Versteeg. Every week, it seemed someone would join the site just to comment on a GDT that “Huet sux! Niemi is obviously our #1.” Then, when people would respond with statements like, “No, because what are you talking about? Niemi’s played all of 9 games. And who can the Hawks possibly trade for Huet?” the new-comers would lash out with attacks not unlike this: “fuck you. your a douche. i never posted anythign insulting and then you start attacking me lol. your an idiot if you think huet is better than brodeur lmao”
They’d troll for a couple days and then disappear. I seem to remember Esquire02 getting caught in the crossfire the night he joined, too. But, he quickly showed himself to be a reasonable person who didn’t appreciate Huet and had legitimate reasons, and things calmed down after he joined. Coincidence?
All right, come on, dummy, you won the game. Come on. Pick up your trophy.
You mean there's cool posters?
I thought we were all nerds!
I think I missed most of the insanity on this site, but I caught it elsewhere so I understand. It was getting to the point that I couldn’t enjoy the games for all the goalie drama on the other site. So I must’ve timed it well, leaving there and coming here.
I like how you used the wrong “your” in your quoting of the newcomers. Intentional? Seems people screaming about the goalies always seem to have bad grammar which makes reading their posts even worse.
Your post is well written....
but I definitely disagree on a few fronts.
When you say that bitching about versteeg, buff, etc is the same as bitching about Huet, I disagree.
I bitch about versteeg alot, I try not to bitch about Huet too much. Why? Options.
There are many many capable forwards that are either in Rockford or that are going to be healthy scratches come April. When I get angry at Versteeg, it is because I think someone else could be better suited to be on Madden’s wing, and because I think his recent play should warrant a reduction in playing time.
With the goalie situation, there are not the same amount of options. Our best two options are here.
I dropped this quote in a thread before, and if you are seriously calling for a player’s head, “don’t tell me how choppy the water is, dock the boat”.
With all of that said, I don’t root against Versteeg, I don’t boo him, I don’t hate him……I get irritated with him, but I do support him. There are people that comment about Huet that seriously enjoy watching him give up soft goals, that say they’ll never back him. To me, this is unacceptable.
Next, I’ll give you two comments. The first is acceptable to me, and generally won’t get people jumping all over you. The second is annoying and should be labeled (in print) as such.
1) Pretty damn soft goal by Huet there, that’s deflating when we are outshooting a team this badly.
2) Fucking fuck Huet, every game he gives up 2 or 3 soft goals, we are never going to win a cup with him, I’ll never back that turkey!
See the difference? Not only is comment number 2 depressing, it is a clinic on knee jerk reactions and hyperbole.
I know people have varying opinions, I’m ok with that, but the way that you present your opinion is going to dictate how people react.
You mention Seabrook. Yes, people bitch about the turnovers and spotty play, but I don’t know anyone who is saying he is a dreadful player and shouldn’t even be on this team, they just want him to clean up his play.
You aren’t comparing apples to apples in my opinion.
Other things to note….
Your 1st paragraph credentials are noted, but not necessary for us to listen to what you have to say.
If you have the right to yell shoot, then the dude next to you has the right to give you the stink eye because you yelled it at a stupid time. I say “you” and I’m not directing it at you, I’m using it generically. If you feel that you use “shooot” in a reasonable and correct manner, ok. If you feel that you’ve used the triple bird chirp whistle in a correct and necessary manner, fine (this is another example though you didn’t mention it).
I enjoy being around sports fans who can call a spade a spade, sure we may disagree about whether or not Q should change lines so much, or whether or not versteeg should be on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th line, but as long as we can present our points reasonably, I’m cool with you (again, using “you” generically).
This post sounds like it’s all about me and my rules, I don’t intend it to be like that, I just wanted to respond to your post with my feelings on some of the topics.

With the recent focus on “bandwagonism” I felt it necessary to be upfront that I’m “new” but “old” at the same time. Aside from that, I have to agree with what you were saying. And that was pretty much what I was attempting to say.
We are stuck with our goalies. They let in a lot of soft goals. And there is no reason to have a giant backlash against someone who says “Pretty damn soft goal…”
Just like there is nothing wrong with people saying that we still have a chance at the cup and its no big deal.
But people take the extreme. Which is what I was attempting to address when talking about how both sides were right and wrong at the same time.
I also was attempting to point out how easy it is to ignore people that take the “Fucking fuck Huet…” comments than to feed the trolls, so to speak, and create a 20 reply long comment calling each other names back and forth.
And I agree, I support Huet and I support Niemi. Whoever is on the ice. It’s what needs to be done. I’ve never booed them. I was there against the first meeting with the Stars…Yeah. Don’t need to relive that one. But I never once booed Huet. But there shouldn’t be such backlash against someone saying “Pretty damn soft goal…” and there’s no reason to respond to people that go “fucking fuck huet…”
The goalie situation, as I said, at least in my opinion, is a problem. If only the fact that Huet is paid 5+ million and is only an average goalie this year. There might not be anything to do about it. But people always like to bitch. And it is the easiest thing to bitch about. Aside from Kopecky whenever he comes out of Hossa’s closet.

Let’s say you’re at this really cool park and you’re playing football with some random guys and some regular friends. You enjoy this football game, people will do something dumb occasionally, but you talk about it and everything is cool. Then there is this one asshole who plays dirty, is over the top annoying, and does the same shit over and over again no matter how hard you try and reason with him. Sure we could ignore this kid’s antics and go on with our game, but It’s hard not to tell that kid to piss off and go find his own football game at a different park with other jagoff kids. Know what I mean?

Not to be combatitive, but...
Yes, your post is well written and I too applaud you on that, but still the tone of it left me feeling like you joined this site just to let us know that we as commenters disappoint you. To that I will say “Welcome, glad to have you” but dive into the “social experiment” before you point fingers. I’m not sure why you feel the need to defend positions that you have yet to take on this site and point out our behavioral flaws. It’s kind of like a neighbor coming into my house and complaining to me about my choice of furnishings. If you don’t live here, than why should your opinion matter to me? On the flip side, why should my furniture choice matter to you? Do you get where I’m coming from?
I’m assuming that you read this blog one or twice a week in the past and maybe started reading more often as of late. You therefore surely realize that there exists many “relationships” on this site and commenters play different roles; some are educators, some are fans looking for comradeship, some are jesters, others can be akin to a virus.
As a psychologist, I would expect that you would be intrigued by, or at least understanding of, the fact that this is a virtual world petri dish or biosphere where we can interact on a topic that we all love, the Blackhawks. In the real world we’d be shunned because of our level of fanaticism. Just as in the real world, we tend to be more tolerant of people who have gained our respect from their past performance. Conversely, we tend to be more resistant to those who are unfamiliar to us or who have rubbed us the wrong way. We also gang up on those who barge in without “learning the system” and rant about topics that we’ve exhausted, typically without any means of backing their opinion. It just gets old – and sometimes it IS fun to feed the trolls; it brings us all together and can lead to some hilarious situations. Again, it goes back to the social experiment comment.
So I guess I’m saying, before you criticize someone (or a whole community), walk a mile in their shoes.
(That way, you’ll be a mile from them, and you’ll have their shoes. Har har)
See you in a mile?

Actually, I’ve been reading the at least once a day for over a year and a half now. I only joined a while ago.
Really, I wasn’t trying as much to correct anyone’s behavior, nor did I want to criticize it. I just offering my opinion of what I’ve been seeing recently. I joined as a user a while back because I had wanted to post something a while ago, but the simple fact of the pre-existing relationships and relatively tight-knit community here stopped me. I still enjoyed reading the comments.
And I am well aware of the psychological issues you spoke of. Though those are more sociological issues. Or social psychological. Either way, I was just offering my opinions (first, this is a blog, second, this is a fan post) of what I saw in the comments sections these past couple of weeks, especially in the trade deadline posts.
This was an attempt, so to speak, to attempt to offer a level-headed observation of what I’ve seen. I apologize if I’ve offended you or invaded your community, but I am pretty familiar with it, if not active within it.

To post, or not to post...
I “used” to be fairly active here, and have had to stop posting as much. Feeding the troll/trollop is frowned upon by some, and enjoyed by others. (Yes, that is a Robert Asprin male/female call out.) My brother has called me “Asshole Avenger” for many years, due to the fact that I can not let an asshole spout off without destroying him/her/it.
I found myself actively hating some of the so-called “Huet Bashers”, and was labeled by some as a “Huet Lover.” I have screamed at the TV when a goal was scored against, but I still did not hate Huet for letting it in. I have in the past, and in the future I will continue, set the blame for the majority of the goals against on the Defense. I do so for one reason, and one reason only, because I played fullback in Soccer, and every goal against I attributed directly to a mistake made by me. Not the Goalie, not the idiot striker who thought he was the next coming of Pele, but me.
When I started noticing the posters who are often referred to as “Huet Bashers” becoming more vicious and vocal, I attempted to converse with them in a logical manner. Quite often it resulted in someone posting HUET SUX 17 times in a row. So now, I say go Hawks, and go away you supercilious, wagon -hopping, syrup-sucking, stump-jumping, cock-fucking, worthless excuses for a human beings. The oxygen that they use would be better put to use lighting the farts of a 750 pound vegan woman.
Notice how vitriolic that sounds? that’s why I stopped posting here as much. I understand that because of the Hawks being a good team there is going to be a flock of new fans to discover them. I also understand that a lot of them are not going to be adapted to converse in a semi-sociable manner, but I get tired of the rage I feel when I am forced to interact with them. It took me to the point that I would jump on a new poster just because they said that Huet fucked up. I don’t want to be that guy, so I backed away.
I now only have to figure out how I can convince my TV to stop broadcasting the pricks that keep chirping when the opponents have the puck behind their own goal, and the Hawks are making a change. It makes me want to go bird-hunting, with a cannon.
I have not, nor did I intend to direct any of this post at you, you set forth your thoughts in a consistent manner, and while I do not completely agree with you, I am fine with us not agreeing.
I will also be sitting on the glass for the Hawks/blues on the 30th, and as much as I hate hearing the fucking glass pounders, I can not guarantee that I will not do so that night. I will not cheer during the anthem, but that is only because of my military background. I will not chant detroit sucks, because they will not be there. ( I would DEFINATELY chant it if the detroit players attended a Hawks/Blues game!)

Not offended and obviously no apology necessary
I just thought it was a “dicey” way to make an entrance. Now that you have “broken the seal” hopefully you will choose to continue posting (and if you also choose, to influence behavior from a position inside the so-called circle of trust).
I too was a daily stalker, same as you, for a year and a half. I find it funny that I am still relatively new to many, but I’ve known them for quite a while (but only in a “characters in a good book” sort of way). Here’s the rub to that “ant farm” type of relationship though: If I don’t like a book, I can put it down. But if I was offered the opportunity to take part in the editing of that book – and chose not to – I can’t really justify writing the author and telling him or her that I disapprove of that book.
You did it in a somewhat polite and intelligent manner and therefore my response to you is hopefully equally so, but I’m still reserving the right to give you shit in the future for making your debut like a first-day substitute teacher! Hope to see you around OOPsycho.

"but the simple fact of the pre-existing relationships and relatively tight-knit community here stopped me"
Please don’t let it. I joined last May and I didn’t really start posting until sometime this season, but even before I did I knew that there was going to be a lot of weird backstory between people and there were probably a couple of inside jokes that I wasn’t going to get, but it isn’t as though the community is so tight-knit that it won’t welcome outsiders.
Hell, if “Hi, I’m Bob LeDonne” could start with posting just “Hi, I’m Bob LeDonne” and end with becoming some sort of game day fairy godmother, anything can happen, you know? But first impressions (or posts, I guess) are important. Just don’t be a douche when you come in, screaming and yelling and using SCH as a ranting microphone instead of a place where you can interact with others.
But when it was suggested to him that Toews v. Kane seems likely to become a sidebar to every future international hockey tournament, he smiled and said: "I'd like us to win something together, too."

Except for the mile comment
I disagree. I think any lurker here does know us, and maybe has better insight than those of us who get caught up in the GDT’s or fanposts.
My only surprise is that I thought things were getting better, but I haven’t read the game wrap up (when it didn’t show up by 2 am that night, I figured much partying was going on and I was bummed I wasn’t part of it).
It’s fun being in a tight-knit community and getting to know people, especially when we start to get local meets and see each other in person, but I’d hate to think that we are stopping others who want the same things in joining us. (Grammar fail, I just woke up you douches.)
Welcome 00psycho. BTW, I have a minor in psych. Which I know means nothing. But some people think it really means I understand shit.

Baptism by fire? Making a splash?
Shit, I’m outta cliches already. Shoulda stayed in bed a little longer.
I’m just a relatively controversial person. My thesis pissed just about everyone in the field of psychology off. I think only two people appreciated it…
Quick side note. I’m obliged ethically (yelch) to mention I’m not a psychologist. It’s a legally protected term. You need a license to practice. If you say you are a psychologist and don’t have a license you can be sued. I will never have a license. I like to mess with heads too much. So now you can’t sue me.
I generally keep my mouth shut because I usually end up saying something extremely stupid (for laughs) or something that just pisses everyone off. Or video game jokes that no one gets…yes…I’m a giant geek and a sports fan. It is a sign of the apocalypse. Or so I have been told.

Just a guess
I bet at least 5 posters (oops almost typed posers) here WILL get stupid video game jokes. Don’t let that shit stop you, being controversial isn’t bad, it’s all about how it’s said and how many times it’s repeated in the same thread.

We also gang up on those who barge in without "learning the system" and rant about topics that we’ve exhausted
If you meant this, then maybe I should have stated that by no means did I intend for that to be directed toward OOpsycho. I meant it as a reason in general on why sometimes it might appear to an “outsider” that we are ganging up on someone in haste. When I was an outsider I knew the overall relationships and temperaments of the different posters, but it was probably a tenth of what I know and realize now that I am actively involved – for better or for worse ;)
I do also believe that things have gotten much better and I didn’t think the trade deadline threads were that bad – it was a high stress day. We have our good days and our bad…
Well, folks, I want to thank you for being here for the recording of my live comedy album. Funny material and laughter will be dubbed in later.

Oh fuck
you’re gonna make me re-read your post? I broke my glasses last night (stepped on them, apparently I couldn’t see them).
OK, I’ll go as far as the first paragraph – I didn’t feel a diss to us as posters here. Although maybe it was and I got too wrapped up in happy thoughts to figure it out.

this thread definitely wins the...

Yes!
comments far too many words. I need to take a nap after reading.
Now I am responding to the original post.
I had typed a long response outlining all the reasons that the Hawks are the best team in hockey with stats to back it up and why HHHHHHHHHHHHH………the goalies will be just fine, but you already know this or you wouldn’t be wasting your time on this site.
Please don’t yell “Shoot!” until the Hawks enter the offensive zone. That is my only advice.
Enjoy this site and if you/we can make calm intelligent comments like your post (maybe shorter) it will be one happy Blackhawk orgy for the rest of the season.

Yelling shoot
The only times I really yell shoot is when:
A: They’ve been in the offensive zone for a good 2 minutes, moving the puck like the “Harlem Globetrotters” quote, and don’t get a single shot off when they are trailing 2-0. And they have had shooting lanes, but it looks like they don’t want to be responsible for shooting.
and
B: It’s a 2 on 1 and you know that they have a .00009% chance to successfully pass to the other side and you see the other player’s stick tied up and you want them to shoot in hopes of a rebound.
Not like that puck Hossa hesitated and whiffed on during the Islanders game.
Times like those, I can get vocal.

Pleased to meet you, pyscho
Glad to see someone comment who has a passing familiarity with the english language.
I’ve washed my hands of the Huet debate long ago. He’s generally been mediocre to awful since November, which hopefully means he gets hot again for the playoffs. In the meantime, again, all I ask, is that you stupid fucking cocksuckers stop booing at the mere mention of his name.
It doesn’t help.
That’s my piece.
