What a great start to a great week of hockey

Knocking off the Nucks was an excellent way to start this next week that is slated to be the best of the regular season.

Sunday it’s the Wings, followed up with the Kings on Wednesday, in Philadelphia on Saturday, and then Washington next Sunday. Should be a lot of fun watching some great hockey within the next week.

"The Golden Goal! And Canada has - once in a lifetime - Olympic Gold!"

Congratulations to The Golden Boys- Toews, Seabrook, and Keith- for delivering the GOLD to CANADA.

Olympics over, silver all that matters now

The golden goalie shows he’s second best again. Better team effort last night, that same effort will go a long way against the Scum.

Awesome game!!!

Playoff like atmosphere,at least in the first period, blackhawks totally owned them….second period seemed like it was a different game, both teams didn’t really do much damage, but glad to see the hawks didnt have a second period meltdown….they held a very good offensive team to limited chances,a few D breakdowns, unfortunately one led to Burrows goal, seemed like it was on a line change, and the third goal was a redirect, nothing you could do there….Huet had a solid game, only one softie, even though it was a bad one,but he was huuuuge on the 5-3 penalty kill, and the big diving save was awesome, not to mention the big glove save on mikael samuelsson….

i still dont like the fact that the hawks gave up 3 goals, and obviously love the fact that they were awesome offensively, and they scored on the PP again!!KAner with a new career high in points, and 18games to go,awesome, and the he was backcheckin most of the night which was awesome….and i love it when buff plays the way he did last couple o games

after going up 5-1 in the first

I don’t mind seeing the other team get a couple back – as long as the Hawks don’t lok like they fell asleep and stopped playing. Last night, the Hawks continued to have the upper hand.

Huet looked good (generally) I thought

1 sorta of one
made all the routine ones
made a few very tough ones early
all in all, if we saw that level night after night, we wouldn’t hear all the beefing & worry

by krome on Mar 6, 2010 1:42 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

No reason to hate

This is it! It’s Huet or Niemi the rest of the way so let’s enjoy the wins and see what happens. I think we can win it with either of them if the team plays well defensively, first and foremost, every night. Please, PLEASE, s’il vous plaît! Do not turn on Huet (or Niemi) like Cub fans did to Patterson, Jones, whoever Cub Nation decides to abhor at the moment, etc. It will not help so stay positive…this is a good team…maybe even a team that could win 16 playoff games this year! We’ve seen these guys play very well at times, even make highlight reel saves so let’s support them. Go Hawks!

Versteeg

his lateral move was ridiculous, like he was shot out of a cannon. And no one could have stopped his shot, it was in the very top corner of the net, just a perfect goal.

Thing 1 and Thing 2 didn’t do much, but for the most part these guys can still play with the Hawks. Luongo is the Hawks MVP, he’s our difference maker.

What a great time

This game was the long awaited one, my Vancouver-native buddy traveling here to see the game. Found tickets in Sec 224, 4th row, and didn’t have to sell a body part to get them. This was also my first Hawks game at the UC after too many great ones to count at the old Stadium. What a fantastic atmosphere, and what a great game! Props to all the Hawks fans who gave my buddy plenty of tasteful, good-natured abuse during the game and on the smoke breaks, and a serious “wtf were you thinking” to the douchebag who actually tried to pull the Canucks jersey off my friend outside Gate 7. You, sir, are lucky that he’s as laid back a person as he is, or I promise you’d have ended up the night with his boot shoved far enough up your ass for us to see the toe in your mouth.

My buddy was really, really impressed with our fans, our building, and pretty much everything except his team’s performance. He’s a permanent resident now, and joined in the cheering for the anthem (after singing along with O Canada), which made it kind of the best of both worlds for him. He’s also a hockey fan, not just a Canucks fan, and he named almost as many former Hawks as I did when the pictures were rolling on the screen in the pregame.

He’s enough of a realist to say that he believes Canada won the gold medal game in spite of Luongo, not because of him, and he’s worried that the Hawks are in Luongo’s head so badly that he won’t have much chance at all in a playoff series. Anyway…the beer and the overall experience made it a great time for him in spite of the score, and I couldn’t have asked for a better game to see after being away for so long. Now let’s lay waste to Scum in a similar manner on Sunday, and make it a perfect weekend!

I had to work last night and it goes to figure, I leave with the Hawks up 1-0 to check on my guys, and come back not 10 minutes later with them up 4-0.

Good to see DLR is back, it has been a while.

by meeshak on Mar 6, 2010 3:57 PM CST up reply actions

I wish the Glass was the only thing I had to complain about from that game

Hawks Lost
Some Isle Tard got a trick
Front row seats with a walkway IN FRONT OF YOU!
Hawks Sucked
4 goal Isle second period
Niemi Blew
“Wait for the Whistle” a foreign concept
Huet was a sieve
The Stadium sucked
The Hawks dropped a turd

But really, the seats were awsome, fans where nice though not the most rabid or knowledgable (except the guy to my left, I had a note pad out!), lots of Hawks fans around. Seeing the ’Hawks FINALLY (I Live in CT) great.

NYI despratley needs the renovations they seek. The Colesium is a complete pit, not like the Barn which was a true Hockey Stadium but old, this place just sucks! I had fron row seats, but could only see the top half of the net, people always walking and stopping in front of you, among many other things. It is old and shows.

But anyways, it was great to see the Hawks play. and
FUCK SCUM

Kane

sure looks like he’s been watching Hossa backcheck and Huet is just unlucky , that softy was between his wrist and thigh. Huet looked better all around and does a real nice job with the puck but gets no credit for it by being French.

by activestick on Mar 6, 2010 1:57 PM CST reply actions

I thought Huet looked kinda like he usually does

Some real nice saves in close, and then a goal from 40 feet away that has Edzo saying, “That goal, cannot go in.” Every goalie gives up softies, but for some reason they look extra bad on him. Is it because he frequently gets beat glove side from the top of the circles to the blue line? I don’t know. I’m not sure the French part of it has as much to do with it as people just loving having something to bitch about even when there really is no realistic alternative.

by NKLHD on Mar 6, 2010 3:31 PM CST up reply actions

It seemed like

He was solid during a bunch of those mad scrambles, and looked great when we were shorthanded. I was a little worried about some of the juicy rebounds he gave up, but some of those resulted from saves that he doesn’t always make — it’s almost as if he looked more mobile than he has in other games.

Blackhawks activate F Burish

CHICAGO (AP)—Sidelined all season by a knee injury, Chicago Blackhawks forward Adam Burish(notes) has been activated from injured reserve.

The 27-year-old Burish tore the ACL in his right knee during a preseason game at Minnesota on Sept. 20 and underwent surgery five days later. He had career highs with six goals and nine points in 66 games last season before collecting three goals and two assists in the playoffs.

Burish has 10 goals and seven assists in 156 regular-season games over the last three years with the Blackhawks.
