how is this anything other than stoking the flames of rivalry? maybe other cities’ columnists write similar articles following hawks tilts, but let me ask you this: doesn’t it seem like he’s just a Detroit columnist attacking their biggest hockey rival’s tradition for the enjoyment of the masses?

if you can look me in the eye and tell me that hawks fans are cheering for the team, rather than for the country, during the anthem, well, then you’re pretty damn tall and you’re about to get punched in your tall ass-face

As some of you know, my kids play hockey here in Michigan (West side thank JHC). They had a tournament here last weekend and two teams from The Chicago area came to play. One of them was the Arctic Ice Blackhawks. In the championship game between my kids team and the Blackhawks, our rink played the national anthem. The Blackhawks kids tapped their sticks during the last portion of the anthem, and our Holland kids joined them. The parents were aghast. Why would those boys disrespect the anthem they said. I simply said they are Blackhawks it’s what they do. I thought it was awesome. Saluting the flag with the stick tap. Best was the Holland Michigan kids, most of which are Red Wing fans joined in. FYI the Blackhawks lost this one toHolland 7-1. They are a nice group of parents and kids and should be proud of the way their boys and girls played. The Anthem salute was a great thing to see.

NO, my kids are not Red Wings fans. They are Blackhawks all the way.

 The only time I feel as patriotic is when I hear it as our flag is being raised at the Olympics. As the fans start cheering I get tears in my eyes and the pride in me is overwhelming, quite the opposite of what this guy is saying.
