I think you did a great job. WOW, this is your first video?? No freaking way! The timing of the different cuts are literally perfect, including the music. How long did it take? I especially liked that you used the “Is he selling it?” audio. Looking forward to seeing your other ones!

Btw, is the jumpy video at the rewind transition intentional too like in the actual commercials?

Also, I don’t know how to do it, but you should try to promote this on YouTube. I think this is actually the funniest of the History Will Be Made parodies that I’ve seen. I can’t believe I’m the only one to comment on this so far?? Hopefully everyone will find it or one of the regulars will mention it in the GDT. This should have been a FanPost since they get much more attention and you’ve obviously put a lot of work into this -and especially since someone simply linked to the Matt Cooke video and called it a FanPost right after you posted this. =(

I don’t think anyone would believe the actual amount of time that this f’ing thing took. I had no idea how to do any of this (I’m an old geezer). First, I had to find out how to extract the videos from YouTube, which is in FLV format. Then I had to download like three different converter to find one that worked to convert it to AVI format. But Windows Movie Maker doesn’t recognize all AVI formats, so I had to find a program to decompress the videos further and convert to WMA (WMV?) format. I also needed to find an audio and video extractor to separate them for editing. Once I did that I had edit the audio length and cross-fade transitions since WMM doesn’t allow for more than one audio track at a time. Then getting the audio and video all to line up, etc, etc. WMM doesn’t do video reverse, so I had to find two more programs to change the format yet again and then reverse the frames. I also cut still frame out of the video and edited them in Photoshop to give the illusion of the video "jumping at the transition, so yes, it was intentional. When I tried to convert the final cut, I had problems with WMM recognizing all the different formats and it screwed up the whole video. It took about 5 hours just to fix that problem which ended being with the codecs. It was a learning experience, so hopefully the next ones will go easier. I wish I knew an easier way though.

I don’t know how to promote a video in YouTube, but maybe someone else on SCH does – or can give me pointers to help make completing my other videos a little easier??

Holy awesome. Great concept and great outcome. I know you explained all the shit you had to do to make this work, but I’m sure we still don’t know the half of it. I’ve made a couple movies with just stills set to music with text, and that was a pain-in-the-ass. I can’t even imagine it with splicing two videos and adding a separate audio track.

Since at Joe Louis Arena, they play that song after opponent goals, for the “they will not defeat us/we will be victorious” theme.

You made one hell of a video and I appreviate the time and effort you put into it. Thanks for sharing it with us.
