Around SBN: Ray Allen Fighting Age, Injury And His New Role

Once again...Congrats

Congrats_medium_medium

(Best part about losing to you folks twice? I can recycle graphics)

Several days ago I had hoped to be typing something different, but without question the better team won. Chicago had more talent, poise, finish and drive to earn that series win. My congrats to the folks who run the team, the guys who run SCH and all the Chicago fans (trolls aside) who suffered many bad seasons to bask in these moments.

I wish you the best of luck going forward though I trust you'll understand if I refuse to root for your team out of principle (or jealousy or spite...not sure it fluctuates) but I do know this: last year this loss hurt a lot more. I thought we had a team that could stand up to your test, but your talent and our injured, poor play did us worse than I could have thought. Vancouver got flatly outclassed and it's a tough pill to swallow. Shit happens; sometimes it happens twice. In a row.

But that's us so screw it. Tonight and going forward it's about you. You have earned every second of relishing this level of accomplishment and I hope you're all out getting tanked or tagging "fuck scum" and slamming car bombs to even read this.

Cheers folks. Enjoy the battles ahead.

Thanks

There are a number of classy folks on your site and it’s nice to see. I like to believe most of us would be as gracious if the situation were reversed. Good luck next season.

Spite is a legitimate reason to root against a team.

Without spite, what’s left in sports but hard work, honor, and glory? That shit’s boring.

Congrats to the Nuck fans for being the most fun to root against. You guys are funny, and good sports (unlike the Scum fans. Just look at the comments on Puck Daddy’s Eulogy blog). You’ll forgive me for wishing your team nothing but the worst of luck moving forward (You can still be spiteful even when you win.)

I'm not superstitious. I'm just a little stitious.

Great Team all the same

My best friend, a Canucks fan, is the one that got me watching Hockey. Though I’m a ‘Hawks fan, I think I’m almost alone when I say that, when not playing the Blackhawks, I always hope the Canucks win.
This doesn’t make me a true Canucks fan, I know, and I can proudly declare that to all that listen. But I can also say that of all the ‘Nucks fans I’ve met, I haven’t disliked a single one, even AFTER they hear I cheer for their hated rivals. It was a gritty series, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Can’t wait to see you again next year.

sorry your team lost, but I have to say I’m glad my team won.

I always thought cheering for the team that beat you was a good way to go about it

That way you can say, “well at least we got knocked out by the best.”

But I suppose that’s just me.

We've been pretty lucky

in that for the most part the guys from OtF and now NM have been worthy foils, adding to the discussion while giving as good as they get.

Every team site has it’s trolls, but I’ll add my salute to Vancouver fans (and Preds fans) who have visited.

It's been impressive

how few trolls there have been, compared to how many Chicago’s sent their way. I wonder if it has something to do with the relative sizes of fanbase (and I don’t mean that in a bragging sense).

by meeshak on May 12, 2010 4:38 PM CDT up reply actions

Do you really think the Hawks

have a bigger fan base? I wouldn’t have considered that 3 or 4 years ago but with the recent resurgence in your franchise maybe you do. There are about twice as many people in “Chicagoland” as there are in all of BC so it stands to reason your fanbase is larger.

I don't think we honestly have a bigger fanbase

But I also don’t think trolls are usually “real” fans (oh, God, have I become Overserved?). With a larger population, and a ton of media attention, there are a lot more chances for a douchebag fandwagoners to go come around.

I just thinks it's great that you

are getting media attention in Chicago and getting more and more fans. Getting back to where that franchise should have been all along.

Just wanted to say Congratulations and Well Done

to the Hawks. I had a lot of fun hanging out over here the last week or so. You guys have been great.

Clearly the better team won. I don’t think the Canucks have anything to be ashamed of, except maybe Luongo, for their performance in this series. We were up against the best team in the NHL and our D was banged up but we fought hard and pushed you guys to 6 games. Moving on I don’t see any way the Hawks don’t win the Cup. Good Luck and enjoy the next few weeks. You guys deserve it after what you’ve been through the last decade or so.

Good work Hawks and congrats to SCH. The better team advanced, to be sure. Best of luck vs. the Sharks. I think I’m going to remain neutral on that series. Wouldn’t want dbags like Burish, Byfuglien and Eager to influence who I cheer on.

Now, see what I’ve done? I thought I was making some progress, too. Sigh. ’Til next season.

Please allow me to adjust my pants, so that I may dance the good time dance, and lead the onlookers and innocent bystanders into a trance.

Congratulations guys, as many have said before, the better team (unfortunately :) ) won. Good luck vs. the Sharks, I’m a little torn on who to cheer for, as I love some of the guys on the Hawks (Toews, Seabrook, Keith), but don’t care for some others…either way I imagine whoever wins this series will probably win the whole thing.

Also, can we have your defense?

Good job and good luck

Replying to this basically because it says most of I want to say. I want to root for Chicago, but for every Toews, there’s an Eager to balance it out. San Jose is San Jose, I’ve got nothing against them. Except for being in the same state as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of California of US, I guess.

It’s more frustrating for me because I don’t hate the Hawks as much as I did last year – you played better, and were the better team. I can’t despise that.

Now go play some good, smart hockey.

Just wanted to say thanks for this site. From the admins, who put out first class material for general consumption, to the members here who chew it up, digest it, crap it back out, then sift through the remnants to make sure they didn’t miss anything. You’re definitely thorough.

Every time I drop by I’ve felt welcome and enjoyed either discussing things with you or even just reading the comments of a very knowledgable hockey crowd with a great sense of humour (yeah, it’s spelled right!).

Good luck going forward with a great young team. You earned and deserve it. Man, this hurts.

As a really new member of SCH

I have to say thank you, to the NM members. It was truly a good series, as I’m sure fans on both sides of the broadcast(s) kept their nitro pills and defibrilators at the ready from start to finish. I know I did.

The class and depth of knowledge displayed by your members was appreciated and impressive, to say the least.

Thank you for your contributions to our blogging activities here at SCH, and as it has been said many times already: Hopefully we’ll see some of you through the rest of the Playoffs (there is some tremendous Hockey being played, afterall), and we’ll be certain to do this again next season!
