May 3rd - Beard Of The Day - Tim McIlrath
Today's beard of the day brings us a long time staple of the Chicago punk rock scene, Tim McIlrath, formerly of such seminal acts as Killing Tree and Baxter, but he's also the front man of a band you may have heard of, Rise Against. Most noted for his politically charged lyrics, barking vocals, and cathartic screams, McIlrath also has sported an impeccable beard for some time now. How about this for a Monday morning wake up call?

Rise Against
They were my first concert. It was at Congress theater and I just remember McIIarth being a total badass. Rise against is awesome.

Awesome indeed
A friend gave me Revolutions Per Minute as a birthday present six years ago and it didn’t leave my CD player for weeks.
Torches
my favorite song off RPM.
havent listened to this in a long time. nice reminder this band still is doin it.
"...can i have a glass of whiskey and a slice of bread?"
I'm a big fan too
and true story-I live 3 houses down from McIllrath house. Only the parents live there now, but Tim drops by every so often

Know the feeling
I just kind of stumbled upon them about five years back, and every album I’ve picked up since has been suitably worn out.

Just the Beard
Don’t know anything about the guy or the band, but I might even take a very nice mustache over that beard as beard of the day.
Please don’t ban me from the site.
Not sure how to post this picture, so I’ll just link it.

Pasion, drive & desire...
Hers’s hope we see our beloved Hawks put out as much energy tonight as Tim is cranking out there.

Byfuglien back to D?
Jesse Rogers says it may happen, according to his source.
This is what I assumed Q would do at the start of the series; leaving Buff on D and then using him at forward for the power play. I’m to the point where I don’t care what he does with Buff, but he needs to define a role and try and stick with it.
Ditto for CNS
Q waffles
more than a politician.
Buff at D, I don’t know. Burish back on the bench and ice? Yes please. This team for some reason unknown to me plays better with him out there.

According to Rodgers
Q is playing games (or being “coy” to quote Rodgers) with the lineup in drills. I have to imagine we’ll see Burr, and for better or worse, Buff back on D. Here’s hoping Buff isn’t on the ice with the Sedin sisters, or we could see a serious undressing.
I like that this move. It gives Q more options
Hendry looked over-matched on Saturday. I was pretty sure there was no way he’d be dressing today. Perhaps there is a reason he has been rotating back and forth from the AHL? He’s looked solid at times, but I think Vancouver is just over his head at this point. Whoever thought Johnsson’s absence would have such a domino effect? Not I.
I’m not by any stretch of the imagination stating Buff is better on D than Hendry, but it allows Q to throw another energy guy into the mix and still use Buff on the PP. I assume Buff will have limited minutes on D – and worst case scenario, Q could roll with 5 D-men if Buff gets exposed too often – or if Buff was working out well in front of Lu and the game was tight, he could put him at forward 5 on 5. Not saying this would happen, but it is an option.
Well, folks, I want to thank you for being here for the recording of my live comedy album. Funny material and laughter will be dubbed in later.

Like Coach Q's really needs
more options. Although it didn’t seem to work last game, it would be nice to see Buff in front of the fuckin net with a little intensity. In fact, how about the whole team adjust the speedball Coach Q is handing out and start hitting some Nucks! Lets not get embarrased again.
LETS GO HAWKS!

I actually felt the Hawks spent more time in front of the net than usual
True, it didn’t work out. Lu was hot, the Nucks D cleared the crease very well and won some individual battles down low, but I personally wasn’t disappointed with that aspect of the Hawks’ game.

A splash more of the physical play
would of been nice. I’ll agree and hate to say it, Lu was hot and we had some chances that missed. I think someone needs to send the message early (crashing the net) that this ain’t no replay of game # 1

I'm ok with it as well, but I'm concerned with the potential pairings
I’d like to see seabs-keith, campbell-hammer, and sopel-buff, with sopel-buff seeing as few even strength minutes as possible.
If he goes with hammer-sopel and buff-campbell……I’m not a fan of that third pairing.
Ditto for CNS
Johnsson's death has taken its toll.
I fucking hate that guy.
Is Troy Brouwer on his way to death status with his recent activity on the ice? I believe it is on our shoulders as Hawks fans to listen to as much Mastodon today as we can so as to invoke all that was good about Brouwer this year. . . I recommend starting HERE
now rock for the next 7 hours.

if IRON TUSK doesnt spurr Brouw onward towards a strong game channeling his great play throughout the reg season…then we’re all in big-BIG trouble.
i feel good about tonight. ive been listening to metal all morning. these things go together.

Wow, that was spot on. Q, is that you?

Great band
I am not really big on their new work but the old stuff is stellar.

But I am going to the game today. First game in over a year. So for my personal beard of the day, I am pulling out the big guns:

Oh Rise Against. First song I ever heard off them was Swing Life Away on acoustic.
His colour contact choices trip me out everytime too.

He actually has two different color eyes. It’s called heterochromia.
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a goddamn shame.
Holy crap, how do I not know this. This is better than Kate Bosworth’s two coloured eyes. That’s just a birthmark.
Sick stuff.
